On father's day, I had a red rice beer, which was new to me, that was actually really good at a China's restaurant.

But how does it compare to the Belgian classics and German stalwarts that you posted earlier?

Different. They are by no stretch a Belgium or German beer, completely different in almost all aspects of flavor and build. Different is a good way to put it. Being that it is based on rice, the overall pallet of the beer is light, but it does pack a punch with the flavor. I really liked it. I just happen to be on a German beer kick right now because of the world cup. Don't get me wrong, I love German and Belgium beers, a lot!

It was actually really drinkable and rather tasty! So much so that two were ordered by myself and the wife liked it also! Different, but good.

I’ve enjoyed these beers in the past. I had a yuzu lager from them that was quite tasty.

I assume that these beers pair well with Asian (especially Chinese or Japanese) food?

Very much so. We had a few spicy dishes and they paired nicely with them. Not saying it cut the heat, but they did go with the food we were eating.

Oh! This was the first I have heard of this brewery and I will now be on the look out for this one!!

Good lord, what decadence!

Exhaustion (of the emotional kind, as much as the physical and psychological) or, indeed, as much as decadence.

Decadence is lush self-indulgence.

Nine hours of rock still sleep (apart, that is, from the part where you wake yourself up, as I did two nights ago, in a rage, muttering during what was a clearly expressed but furious lecture you were giving to a disagreeably captive audience - on the idiocy of Brexit) is wonderfully restorative.

While not a beer, but made by a brewery, if you have the chance, and you like coffee, check out Modern Times brewery line of coffee. I had the bourbon aged coffee this morning and holy smokes. While there is no alcohol, it packs a punch of bourbon and coffee. I mean a big punch! I thought I was going to feel the bourbon just from the smell alone!

It is from a brewery so I thought it might work in this forum. :)

The classic Irish coffee comes with whiskey (or whisky) served in coffee (preferably real coffee, not instant nonsense) with cream and sugar (the latter seems to help the cream stay separate from the coffee). And there is a supposedly French version, where cognac is substituted for whisky.

But, yes, that does sound rather interesting. And quite tasty.

Hm, sounds interesting. I may try one next time I see it.

Highly recommended if either of these two items interest you. The hard part is trying to find them. I was able to grab them as they were coming to the show room floor and that was by pure luck. I am going to their brewery next month so hopefully I am able to grab a few cans.

At a really good wine tasting/wine class where we explored how Riesling looks and tastes when produced in various parts of the world (Germany, Alsace, Austria, NZ, Australia and so on) as well as examining the differences in the terroir, the climate, and the age of the wine. Very interesting and most enjoyable.
