Someone sent me a workout log today where I could see that screens were changing as a result of them both swiping and also rotating the crown.

Yes, that was me šŸ˜Š

People tend to only use one method of changing screens so I suspect they had forgotten that they had configured the crown to change screens. However they didn't mention that the screen was changing accidentally, so maybe they do use both methods to change screens. But it makes me wonder if you have done something similar, which would explain why turning your arm may rotate the crown (due to the clothes) and therefore change the screen.

Yes, I have configured various options for changing the screens.

Swiping, switching with the crown, double tab and even action button+page button.

However, I've had these settings for a year, so why have I only had this problem for weeks?

Sure I can turn off the crown but will it solve the problem?

You have probably changed what you wear or how you wear it. Maybe wearing different gloves or tighter sleeves because it is colder. I always roll the ends of the cycling glove on my watch hand in under itself because otherwise it frequently rotates the crown.

I saw messages about some issue with the beta of WatchOS 10.2.
Now the final 10.2 is out, will it be safe to update?
I don't know of any new problems with 10.2 as compared with 10.1. The first beta was a bit unstable about 6 weeks ago, but that is not unusual for a first beta.

However it's early days yet. Problems often aren't found in betas because so few people try them compared to the majority who update when a version is officially released. Although I haven't heard of any issues yet, so fingers crossed. šŸ¤ž

Hello, I am new to workoutdoors and I would like to know if there is the possibility to put as data "see the variation in elevation of a programmed route". I managed to find this when running so the data is taken in real time, but I would like to have the opportunity to see the graph of what happens next in my route. So I would like to have the graph as in the photo with a point saying where I am on this graph. Does anyone know if this data exists and what it is called?

This will be in the next major version, as part of the navigation improvements. I actually coded up a first draft of that graph a few days ago but it will be many months before it will be released to the App Store.

Nice, I hope it will come as soon as possible

Sorry - I am not yet happy enough with the profile graph to post it!

However here is a screenshot using a new feature that I have added, where you can merge fields to make larger ones. I added it because I think that people will want a large route profile graph, and also because it dramatically increases the number of screen layout possibilities.

Basically if you configure the same metric in two or more adjacent fields, then those fields are merged to give a larger field. There is an outside chance that I will release this feature separately before the navigation version, but at the moment the plan is to introduce it with that version.

Very cool, an idea of estimated date?

I don't like to set myself deadlines, but I am expecting it to take 5+ months.

However it may take longer if things are harder than I thought, or if go off on a tangent to include more functionality than planned (like the merged fields feature!).

So far things are going better than I expected, but it's early days.

Boah, what a cool feature.

Please give it to us before navigation in small update next time šŸ‘

Hi, I don't know if this problem has been reported before, but on several pages back I haven't seen anything about it, so here's my question.
I am having trouble with the heart rate reading. Every time I put some exercise using the sensors of the watch itself I always have to exit the exercise and start it again, since the first time I always get on screen as if there were no heartbeat, but the sensor is seen to be collecting information.
And then when I use the Polar H10 chest strap I do not have so many problems in the reading as it always collects data, but lately I am seeing that from time to time I look at the watch there are some sudden drops in the beats that are not reality, as if the reading failed, and then it becomes fine again.
I don't know if it's because of the application itself, or because of the watch, but I'm asking in case it happens to someone else, since I've been training with the band for more than 10 months and it's been happening for 2 months and I've already changed the battery of the band.
Thanks!

Poor heart rate readings are quite common for some people with the watch sensor, especially when it is cold. External sensors are usually much better but can very occasionally have issues.

I haven't heard of any problems with the H10, despite it probably being the most common sensor used with the app. However the Polar website has a section on abnormal heart rates which may help:

Ok, thanks for the quick response!! And congrats for the amazing app that you created. This app is the reason IĀ“m still using the AW, so keep working like that, a lot of people really appreciate your job. ;)

It's not uncommon for the onboard HR sensor to struggle at the very start of a run. I typically have a 15 second spike in HR where it's tracking my cadance about 1/4 mile into my runs. This issue affects all apps, not just WorkOutDoors. Luckily WorkOutDoors has a fix for this. If you click the three dots to the right of the "Running" button you will see an option to start an "Open Workout". If you start from this screen, it will get a HR lock before actually starting the run. It displays the HR as -- when you first go in but give it a few seconds and it will show your real HR. I typically give it a few more seconds after it locks, and then I start the run. Since I started using this screen to start my runs, I no longer get the cadence lock at the starts of my runs.

I saw messages about some issue with the beta of WatchOS 10.2.
Now the final 10.2 is out, will it be safe to update?
I've done 4 runs since installing the watchOS 10.2 on Monday and so far so good. Yesterday I did my first track run with my brand new Ultra 2 and was surprised to see that it locks to the lanes even when tracking with WorkOutDoors.

Yes, it seems that the track detection happens in the watchOS GPS location subsystem (called Core Location). So when you are running on a track then watchOS detects that and uses it to improve the locations sent to the app.

WatchOS also adjusts the GPS accuracy figure that it provides to WorkOutDoors. Usually <4m is as good as it gets during a workout, but this drops to <2m when on a track, indicating that it is even more confident about the location than usual.

Dear,
Regarding the use of external HR monitor bands, which option consumes less battery, the internal monitor or connecting it to an external one?
(If you need a beta tester I can help you with that, during my workouts).

I installed WorkOutDoors on my new Ultra 2 and tried it out for the first time today. I followed a GPX route that I'd recorded on a Garmin device and imported into the app. Naturally the map indicated by arrows the route that I'd originally walked. Is there any way within the app to reverse the direction of the GPX route?

From the watch, if you go to the routes settings you can select "Reverse"

Iā€™ve the distance notification set to every kilometer. The metrics that are shown are Pace and Heartrate. Both set on ā€œPrv Lap Intā€. This works for the average pace during the last kilometer, but for my heartrate Iā€™m quite sure it shows my current heartrate. Could you maybe check this?

Iā€™m using the latest beta version of WOD on my AWU1. Also using a heartrate sensor (HRM-Pro Plus).

I don't know for sure but I assume that the energy required for Bluetooth communications with the external monitor is less than that required by the internal sensor.

The current beta only contains a few minor bug fixes, so isn't very interesting, but if you want to try it then please email info@workoutdoors.net
