I don’t see any diference changing the “Time background” :(
What did you change it from and to? And did you tap Send after changing it? And have you looked at it with the map in the background?

Yes, i have selected the send option. No matter the option the background is always similar with the middle one. I have the latest update installed.

Please try changing it in the watch app. To do that go to the Settings and tap Map and then it should be available as an option near the bottom. If you cannot see it then you may not have the latest version of the watch app. It seems that Apple sometimes does not update the watch app when you update the iPhone app.

To check this go to the Settings on the watch and tap More and then scroll down to the bottom where it shows a version number. If it does not show 4.3.6 then you need to update the watch app. The best way to do this is to go to the App Store app on the watch and use that. I hope that helps!

Glad I could help. Sorry that the watch app did not update automatically. I am considering releasing a new minor version of the app which warns the user when the iPhone and watch apps are out of date, because it seems to affect a lot of people.

The app does store interval "segments" in Apple's Health system but they are not read by the Fitness app. It seems that the segments must have "private" metadata associated with them to be recognised by the Fitness app, and Apple generally reject apps from the App Store for using private data. Sorry about that.

Note that you can still see intervals in the WorkOutDoors app, and they are also visible in apps like HealthFit and when you export to other systems such as Strava etc. You can even see the segments in Apple's Health app. It is just in Apple's Fitness app that they are not visible because that app requires metadata that WorkOutDoors is not allowed to store.

Unfortunately this is a problem that affects all similar apps, except Apple Fitness.

Got my S5 this week and have tried the app a few times now. Only alpine skiing so far, but it works great. Uploads to Strava flawlessly. Imported some GPX files for my next bike ride as well. Very impressed with the app so far

@cfc i bought the app for my wife’s S5 watch & she really likes it. Is there any chance you’ll make an iPhone version as I’d love to use it but don’t really want a watch.

Probably at some time in the future, but at the moment I am concentrating on the experience on the watch. Glad your wife likes the app!

If I want to log an ebike ride, do I have to use "OTHER outdoor" or am I missing something?
Yes, that is correct. The app uses Apple's workout system and they only offer one cycling activity. The Other Outdoor activity is Apple's generic outdoor activity type that presumably calculates your calorie usage purely on heart rate. This is more suitable that their cycling activity because that seems to take into account distance, and therefore probably cannot account for the different levels of assist that are possible with e-bikes.

Thanks for the quick reply. Calories count is not that important to me, so this will be fine. Then I just change it in Strava later on

Minor bug report, but I set up an interval schedule, 3 minutes @ 7-9 mph followed by a 1 minute rest, repeat more times than I did. When I fell below the target, basically going up hill, it would say something to the effect of "too slow" or "out of range" at 3.1 mph and displayed 3.1 mph on the watch. I was definitely going faster than that.

One good thing is it played the notifications without breaking the podcasts, something that had happened in the past.

That could just be a sensor issue. The current pace estimate provided by watchOS is not always great because it is a very hard thing to calculate (which is why I leave it to them). Make sure you are using the pedometer option because that is usually the best for running.

In terms of the podcasts the latest version defaults to using "Duck" when interacting with other audio sources, which means that other audio goes quieter whilst the app speaks. Previously it always used the "Pause" option, which ducked music but which paused spoken audio during the alert and then resumed it afterwards, so that you do not miss anything.

However some podcast apps were not correctly interpreting the notification to resume after a pause, so I allowed the user to choose how to interact, but made it default to using Duck. If you are using the standard Apple Podcast app for instance then you may want to switch it back to Pause, because that interprets the resume command correctly.

Hi Ian, tell me please, any progress about stryd ?😜
I have got the app connecting to the Stryd and displaying all the metrics live on the watch screen. But I now need to integrate those metrics throughout the features, including screen configuration, alerts, schedules, analysis, exporting, etc.

So I am now pretty confident that it can be done (subject to any reliability issues) but it will take a while to integrate the metrics fully. I may also allow power zones as well, which would take even longer.

I would be really happy to have pace and distance from Stryd first (with an option to enter a calibration factor) if this helps and all the power stuff like zones and trainings later.

The first version should have access to all the available metrics, but I am just considering whether to add power zones. My first thought is not to, and then include them in a future version along with pace zones. I will see how it goes though.

Yes, great idea. Better to have smaller chunks of features earlier than having to wait longer for a big release.

As said before: would have no problem paying a subscription fee for such a premium feature.

There is no other more complete application that records so much information and shares it on customizable screens. Amazing.
I'm WorkOutDoors subscriber since a short time, exactly since I had my S5.

Last week I set up a 40 minute HIIT workout, also thinking on seeing the VO2 Max result in the Apple Healt section, but Apple Health did not use my WorkOutDoors workout for this.
Some days later I ran for 40 minutes using the Apple Workout app and at the end, my VO2 max record associated was there on my iPhone Health app.

Do I have to do some special setting for my workouts done exclusively in WorkOutDoors to being taken into Apple Health to calculate my VO2 max?

Apple only calculate VO2 max for running and walking workouts, so your HIIT workout would not have counted. Sorry about that. Glad you like the app though!
