You read a lot into my "don't deliver" comment. I never said that they don't make it to market. I said that they don't deliver (on what they promise). Please don't misquote me.

The folding phone was simply an example of "first" not being "best".

Dude. Relax, I already said I generalized it. My examples were simply apple not getting it right after waiting and supposedely perfecting.

They don't even have a modular complication for the podcast app on the watch and it took awhile to get other modular complications and they wrote the software. Seems lazy to me and I Know I took this this in another direction.

All done for the night

Reminders is a complete ugly, bulky, hard to navigate, failure of a mess.. nothing was wrong with the original reminders app.. hope this thing is fixed up before GM. My only thing i hate about iOS13 so far.. (obvious bugs like black font on dark widget backgrounds etc not counted)

From what I remember hearing, Assistant is on more devices than Apple. Combo of phones and their home products. I could be wrong.

I use my Google home devices quite a bit and they are quite helpful with getting the information I need (watching news updates, directions, info on stores/restaurants, plays my Spotify playlist) so I would say a lot more than fun questions. Additionally, Google Assistant is connected to more home devices vs homekit which is nice.

Honestly I don't use shortcuts due to the manual process but I could be missing an opportunity.

I hear ya on the watch:). Apple coming out with a streaming option is going to make the watch that much more enticing. Apps are for sure subjective. I feel Google photos is much more user friendly with the ability to search in more granular detail for photos and the automated optimizations they do (I.e. color pop, etc.) Again subjective here. I tend to use all Google apps on my iPhone.

In full transparency, I've never owned an Android phone but the pixel line is getting enticing. I'm not a Samsung guy or any other brand.

Could you share what features apple has over Android that you like? Thx
I have a Moto Z3 running Android Pie. The single feature I prefer on Android is the customizable home pages and the collection icons where I can group apps is prettier. Yeah, I know. Not earth shattering! :)

Otherwise it isn’t much different IMO. Apps work well even if they don’t have quite the polish of iOS apps. Performance is good if you pay attention to the processor you get in the phone. That’s really a big issue in Android world. Lots of Android gear is just doggy as hell, usually at the lower end of the scale.

If something like iMessage was available and they had a really good handoff similar to Apple’s I could switch with ease.

But why would you want to? Its not touch optimiized so you wouuld lose that capability. If you want MacOS in a slim form factor, then I'd go with the (less expensive) MacBook Air.

Out of the blue last night, a friend called and asked if I could think of any reason why he should not trade in his 3 yr old MBP 15” (Touchbar) for a 12.9” IPP. I could not. Order placed!

For everyone talking about incoming calls taking the whole screen, bruh o_O it's a.... PHONE. Kinda the most important part you don't want to miss as well as contact photos are a thing. I want to see the photo of whoever I have associated with the contact calling, how would that work if it was minimized like Android? Come on guys just stop complaining build your own OS and your own phone (exactly). I'm all for constructive criticism but use some common sense first.

If you’re disappointed about iOS 13 then I feel sorry for you. It is a massive update for everyone.

I'm not sure what you mean by "massive update"...dark mode is simply a move to improve battery life, I don't care if I can add "bling" to my Memoji, and I'm not an iPhone gamer. I'm hoping that functional apps like Calendar, Mail, and Notes are well updated...but there wasn't a whole lot about those in the keynote.

Please. The updates may not have been to things you care about, but it is a massive update.

Wow, after that keynote I am totally let down by Apple for the last time. We were told last year that a refresh was supposed to be for iOS 12 but was pushed to iOS 13 to make room for performance improvements. Now that the keynote is over and the big takeaway is freaking Dark Mode, like that was the most requested item. No homescreen changes, no icon updates. Incoming calls still take up the whole phone as do Facetime calls. No multitasking on the Plus or Max iphones. Like they spent 20 mins are freaking Minecraft? The updated security Im sure is a welcome from the news of breaches. It says you can now sign in with Apple. Apple is just trying to hide the fact they wont be sharing with Google but they will still have access to peoples data. So for people to think they are safe from all tech companies then you must be blind. They finally added swipe to text. Android only has had that since day 1. Faster performance, like seriously, you build one of the fastest chips on the market and you are now only supporting 6s and up. Whos slow? The only thing keeping people on iphones is seriously iMessage. Seriously people know they have better features for the money on other phones like Samsung, Oneplus, etc yet your all now blinded that Apple is the best. Where is Jony Ive? Doesn't he still work at apple?

There's always that one person...

And there is every year this kind of thread :)
It just goes to show that you can never ever please everyone.

Your take away was Dark mode? funny because that's the feature I care for the least.

The OP comes across as someone who likes more to stare at the phone rather than getting things done. Android style.

I hope he did a lot more research than just asking you.
Maybe he should have waited for 13 and looked? ;)

You... like the Dodgers? Just when you think you know a stranger...

and courtesy of my cable I get all their games (excluding playoffs).
I get a hankering for an on-site ddog every month or so :D

Hey, what more research does he need!

I think OP is just a troll. he posted and never came back.

The OP isn’t alone though. I recall a lot of threads about the ‘redesign pushed to iOS 13’ when 12 turned out to just be about stability, many griped about it.

I think 13 looks good but I won’t pretend I wouldn’t have welcomed a redesigned lock or home screen of some sort.

Forget all the crap iOS 13 brings, was I the only one holding out for them to restore the iOS 6 look? Been waiting 6 long years. What's one more year? At least dark mode resembles somewhat of iOS 6.
iOS 6 is ancient design language. It’s looks very outdated.

Really don't understand why some people stay on iPhone just because they need iMessage. I thought that too before I switched to Samsung and simply installed WhatsApp. Problem solved instantly.
That really depends on what a persons friends or family use.

I don't understand what the fuss is about. iOS 13 is everything I asked for and maybe more. There is no end to being greedy for some people or so it seems. :p

It's interesting. I want an option where as soon as FaceID authenticates me it goes directly to the home screen. This way I don't have to swipe up and if I did need to see what was on the lock screen I can just swipe down from the top left of the home screen. the only interaction I have with the lock screen is music controls or clearing notifications.

This one I don't see happening because of Apple's privacy emphasis. If you're browsing something on your phone prior to boarding a train, bus or plane and you accidentally glance at your phone once on board, it would open to that sensitive page (perhaps showing your aunt's pet corgis or the visual recipe to Tootsie Rolls, you know, that sort of thing ;)). Apple is not going to go there and have that happening. I suppose they could make it a toggle, but can you imagine the lawsuits if a relative saw the corgis by accident and decided to disown you. The lawsuit would by yuuuuuggge!

Not sure if serious, but I don’t see how this teeny tiny scenario would be a reason not to provide the feature. Especially since it existed under touchid.

Yeah... this is gonna happen. (They can't/won't even remove the "swipe here to go home" line.)

I like the updates, but it’s still pretty ridiculous that they can’t offer a better incoming call option than full screen.

For a second I thought “on, 2015 MacBook Pro? I would love to have that one for an upgrade”, then realise it is a touch bar model. :(
On the flip side, eve with iOS 13, I dare not ditch my MacBook even though my windows PC does most of the heavy lifting for me already.
