I haven't seen any decent screen shots of El Capitan yet. Has anything changed in the UI at all on it?
There have definitely been subtle changes here and there. I posted one observation a few pages back: Yosemite looks terrible!I haven't seen any decent screen shots of El Capitan yet. Has anything changed in the UI at all on it?

And... Flavors 2 is dead now. Got this news in an email this morning from them. If you want it for Yosemite until El Capitan releases it'll cost you 5 bucks. I can't see it given it's just a tease that will go away soon.
"Apple introduced a new security policy on OS X El Capitan, preventing every process (even privileged ones) from modifying system files, either on filesystem or dynamically at runtime. Unfortunately, with these security restrictions in place, this is the end of line for Flavours."
My guess is that all manner of changing the look of OS X just went away such as stuff that modifies the Dock, etc. Maybe I am wrong as I don't know how those work but I wouldn't expect anything that modifies the appearance of the UI to work anymore in 10.11 and going forward.
Its going to take a while to get used to the new layout on macrumors...Thanks, but I think that icon is for multi-quoting from earlier posts. I'm looking for the symbol we used to use on the older site for inserting a quotation from an outside source, like a newswebsite, an email, etc. It would work like "Paste as Quotation" does in email programs.

I bought and paid for and downloaded the newly released version of Flavours 2 and so badly want it to work on my OSX 10.10.2, but so far it simply doesn't work. I am in touch with their support and hope they can help me make it work, but so far no dice. I will keep those interested posted. Not sure I will ever go to El Crapitain as I would like to retain cDock, YosemiteRevert, etc. etc. as well as Flavours 2 if it will start working.

PS - This is all making me so crazed that, since Y/R finally restored the beautiful blue iTunes icon, I would almost swear that my music plays sweeter again. ;-) LOL
Well, I can't cling to past releases and ignore new versions with important (to me) improvements such as Metal and further improvements to security of the operating system in general.

I can understand how people might interpret this but I cannot imagine anyone at Apple caring whether somebody themed OS X or not really so far as changing the look to suit themselves. However, the change to the operating system has much farther reaching implications for security and is a good move even though it ends stuff like Flavors 2. I say this though in terms of 3rd party stuff while it still worked. As for Apple themselves implementing the means to theme the UI, I doubt we'll ever see that as I am sure many of you do too. I can even understand it actually. They want to present a unified experience across the ecosystem that minimizes learning and maximizes ease of use and productivity. While steps along this path can be criticized to be sure, there's no doubt about that being the long term goal they work toward with each iteration of their software. This has always been the goal since the inception of the graphical user interface.
On a bright note for those who are less than fond of how it looks now it is safe to assume it will change in the future. Nothing stays the same.

Hey! Jony! Leave our Dock alone!

I like it, the look to my view is refreshing and has a new twist to it. Nice to have something changed for the better instead of unloading a dud like the new Yosemite has turned out to be for some of the users. Its going to take a while to get used to the new layout on macrumors...
I am sure Choctaw is right. It is only a matter of time.
Choctaw makes a great point.
Yes, the enthusiastic reception for MacRumors' new face demonstrates that those of us harmed and offended by Yosemite are not adverse to change when it is done properly and is an improvement over what it replaces.

But..but... The new MacRumors is flat!!! ...and...and bright!!!!

And lack contrast...!!!
It's so hard to read these forums nowadays...
I wouldn't perhaps go that far with conclusions. Somewhat different rules apply to web design compared to operating system design. So then, my friends, how do you account for the difference in reaction by the same audience?
Could it be that the designers of this forum's new interface possibly know more about software design than a designer of the external appearance and composition of hardware cases?
