I have just come back from the Cribb Causeway store in Bristol. I was given the full demo experience, in all took around 50 Mins.

I took my Zeiss inserts with me, they will ask to take your glasses so that they can calibrate the Vision Pro.

They also will use your phone to repeat the sizing process for your face. Mine was exactly the same as the spec when I ordered the Vision Pro.

They will then explain the 3 main gestures to use for the demo. Pinch to confirm. Pinch and move left or up for scrolling and pinch with both hands for zoom.

They will then show the correct way to pick the Vision Pro and you will then place it on and adjust the top and back strap (the demo uses the dual strap). The Vision Pro will then calibrate your eye position, before then going into eye tracking calibration which gets you to look at dots around the screen in turn and using the pinch gesture to confirm the 'Selection'.

Setup Process was very smooth.

The Demo process shows you how to bring up the 'home' screen, select and open an App.

First app was the photos app, they get you to scroll through the photos and show you how to use the controls to move and resize the window. At this point the demo had exceeded my expectations, as the way the app 'panes' are rock solid as you look around the environment, the cameras also give you a realistic view of your environment, even down to casting a shadow on the desk in front of you of the open app 'pane'. The spatial photo's and videos are incredible and actually made me a little sad, as they included kids at a party and having fun. My two girls are now grown up and I have lost the opportunity to capture spatial photos and videos of them when they were young. The panoramic photo in immersive mode was just incredible. it felt like I was standing there when the photo was taken. Mind blown.

They then demo'd Safari and the Apple TV app. The theatre mode was just like having your own home cinema room.

I was then shown how to have multiple apps around my space and how to move and resize them. Again I was blown away by how the different panes where fixed in place.

They they demoed Immersive environments - I actually felt like I was at a lake with the water rippling in front of me, with hills and trees in the background. This is going to be a great way to destress while working. Again blown away by this.

Finally I watched a spatial video demo - they went through a number of different videos - the sports ones were again incredible. I really would love to be able to watch sports like this in the future. It really gives you the feeling on being pitch side while watching a match.

In conclusion my initial thoughts are the controls for the most part are pretty intuitive. I had no problem using my eye to select what I wanted with the pinch gesture. The immersive photos and videos and environments are incredible. I did start to notice the weight on my cheek bones at the end of the demo, but it was not too bad.

Now time to set up my new device.

If you get an opportunity to do a demo, then I strongly advise people to do so. My personal experience was that in reality it was on the whole a better experience than I had anticipated. It really is one of those devices you need to try in person before you can judge. The last time I was this excited by a piece of technology was when I got my first iPod in 2002.

Agree fully with all the above and almost identical to my demo. (I spent a little bit of time in Keynote). The only negative was the apple demo person admitted it was his first one ever and he was a little unsure in what he was saying. But I wasn't overly bothered as I had watched every you tube video before the demo 😁

Had mine delivered too. The dinosaur demo app is out of this world.

But, I was measured for a 33W light seal and it feels a bit loose and the optical iris scanner says my eyes are too far away. I tried the other rubber insert thing but no luck.

So I went to the apple website to see how much another light seal is. £199!!! I did the scan again and this time it said 21W - so I did it again and it said 33W and then for a 3rd time I did it again and it said 21W. So it seems pretty random :(

I dunno what to do, keep the 33W as it does work, return it, or just cough up for the 21W and hope it works. decisions :(

Sounds like a trip to an Apple Store would be wise. I believe I’d seen that people in the States had them swapped for free.

Are you close enough to an Apple Store to go there? You can set up an appointment and they will bring out a variety of sizes for you to try to make sure you get the best fit. For what it’s worth, the 21w seems to be a very common size.

Thanks, unfortunately the nearest apple store is around 2 hours away just to get there. I will buy the 21W reluctantly mainly because if it works for me great, but it will come in handy (so will the 33W) for others to use it too.

Do you think customer service will swap it and send one out? Worth a call as I think they’ll want to keep everyone happy on launch day with a new (expensive) product

Picked mine up this morning, had the demo first, changed my pre-ordered light seal size, as it felt heavy on my cheek bones, replacement one much better. I must say, you really don't get the full experience by just watching youtube reviews, it's actually quite impressive.

I've had the Sony PSVR2 for approx one year, and a Quest Pro for about 8 months, both excellent for games, but the AVP is quite an experience, I shall see if I think the same way in 14 days time.

Oh, and I tried the dual loop band during the demo, but at home I'm using the single band with a velco strip (from one of my 3rd party Quest bands) to take some of the weight on top of my head), it's quite comfortable, but doesn't look good. I shall change it for something permanent if I keep the headset.

I believe there’s a support link where you can fill in a questionnaire about your fit and they can send you a new light seal to try without extra cost for 14 days.

I live near Reading so I’m going to try out the demo. I haven’t been majorly interested in buying one until maybe a gen (or two) later but I think the demo might change that

UK: My scheduled delivery is end of the day, it's already 15:42 on a Friday, obviously after a certain time the driver just wants to go home, missing one or two deliveries is probably just a slap in the wrist and easy to justify with traffic so he might just f**k all, happened before and I hate that they do this on Fridays cause then it's another 2 days waiting. Rant over

EDIT: Arrived 15:55 lol

Just my two cents, I’d call and arrange a swap. No need to spend that much extra. They’ll be happy to help you.

I have the same issue with Optic ID. Also, the other cushion (in the box) is a thicker one which will increase the distance so if it complains about your eyes being too far then it‘s not going to help. The one that already comes installed on the headset is the thinner one.

Anyhow, I am going to talk to Apple and get the light seal replaced.

Mine arrived on the dot at 4.25pm - I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the setup was, once I got used to the odd typing sensation. I have very limited sight in my right eye but I was so glad I can see almost the whole experience. No stereoscopic vision for me but I am more than happy at everything else. Thought I might be able to port all my settings from my iPhone to the Vision Pro but have still to set up mail and messages manually. I hope all you guys get yours soon as well - happy Vision Pro’ing!

I'm the unlucky one with a faulty headset. It worked for 3 minutes and then abruptly switched itself off. Now it just boots up , seems to get stuck and reboots over and over. I can't really get to an Apple store so I will have to order another one and refund this one. Another 2 week wait for a new order! :(
