Dang price increases and ads in the same week. We already pay literally thousands to Apple a year. Yes it’s a choice but these little nickel and dime tactics are annoying. We already pay the premium. We shouldn’t also get heckled in every other way possible.

This is why consumers have dumped cable and gone to a la carte streaming. The entertainment and sports industries are getting crazy expensive and all trickles down to us. Just like Apple looking to buy NFL Sunday ticket for 2 billion.

Inflation related price increases are a lot like taxes. They go up, but never come back down.

I’d expect these prices to stick even when inflation recedes.

That’s my gripe with them. The margin is fat enough that Apple should have absorbed them or added something to them to offset the value calculation.

And this is why I’m allergic to subscriptions. You never own anything and the provider can change the rules at any time.

There is one bit of good news from the press release/spokesperson thing:
“The change to Apple Music is due to an increase in licensing costs, and in turn, artists and songwriters will earn more for the streaming of their music.”
Apple Music already pays artists more per stream than Spotify, so if this puts them even further ahead I don’t think it’s terrible.

Yeah that stuck out to me, too. And my first thought was the same: “well, at least that means artists getting paid.”

Honestly, 2023 represents a new streaming strategy for this guy.
I was the 1-yr Disney+ subscriber on day one. It lapsed last year. I have cancelled and will re-evaluate that one.
Same with the rest: all on the table.

Has anyone ever paid for Apple TV+? I'm on my seventh trial (or so) and never use it, because of the lack of content.

Lack of content? LOL! Apple TV+ has some of the best original TV shows and movies in the streaming sector.
