This is why consumers have dumped cable and gone to a la carte streaming. The entertainment and sports industries are getting crazy expensive and all trickles down to us. Just like Apple looking to buy NFL Sunday ticket for 2 billion.

Inflation related price increases are a lot like taxes. They go up, but never come back down.

I’d expect these prices to stick even when inflation recedes.

That’s my gripe with them. The margin is fat enough that Apple should have absorbed them or added something to them to offset the value calculation.
 
There is one bit of good news from the press release/spokesperson thing:
“The change to Apple Music is due to an increase in licensing costs, and in turn, artists and songwriters will earn more for the streaming of their music.”
Apple Music already pays artists more per stream than Spotify, so if this puts them even further ahead I don’t think it’s terrible.
Yeah that stuck out to me, too. And my first thought was the same: “well, at least that means artists getting paid.”
