I'm flip-flopping between Safari and Chrome, and for the first time ever I can't make up my mind.

There are things I love about Chrome, but now there are things I love about Safari.

Chrome good things:
- Peacekeeper score of 3039, with HTML5 7/7.
- It seems faster at rendering pages.
- Prefer (or more used to) Chrome tabs

Safari good things:
- Looks nicer, especially the bookmark bar
- Scrolls better, more fluid and smooth
(For comparison, Peacekeeper of 2748, html5 4/7)

Basically it comes down to a matter of aesthetics (doesn't it always with Apple?).

I find myself in a similar situation. Chrome allows me to integrate my browsing between my various devices better than Safari does but Safari at this point is a lot smoother and feature rich than Chrome on OSX.

Safari will take me back from Firefox when Safari gets Tab Groups.

Ugh I wish I could switch right now, but I really like Tab Groups. Only thing keeping me with Firefox.

Safari won

Yes Safari has won for me, I just removed Chrome for my dock :D

Safari 6 feels much smoother, stable and nicer than the previous version.

Please see my thread regarding safari 6 I have a serious issue but so far nobody responded to my thread so I am assuming I am the only one with this problem regarding the download window etc (see thread)

how do you get adblock on safari??

Open Safari > click "Safari" > extensions > pick and choose what you want to download.

I used Firefox for a long time, but the ability to swipe between pages brought me back to Safari 5 and now, with S6, the speed and responsiveness is amazing!

I'm torn.

I've been using Chrome almost exclusively for the past 2 years. Occasionally I'll need to run to Safari or Firefox for compatibility but generally 90% in Chrome.

With my new rMBP and ML, I've started to use Safari a lot more. I'm now about 50% safari and 50% Chrome Canary (looks much better on retina). I like the improvements in Safari 6, I like how it looks, it seems much faster, and is better integrated into the OS. Thumbs up.

However, I'm having trouble tearing myself away from Chrome. Especially with the syncing of browsing across devices, and I just like the look overall better. So, at this point I'd say that Safari 6 has won some significant browsing share back from Chrome but I'm about 50/50 for my current browsing. Firefox I almost didn't install but there are still some passwords and cookies there that I need to occasionally access.

I have been using Firefox almost exclusively for as long as I can remember now...which was right after IE days back when I was using Windows.

I have really not had a reason to switch. I love extensions like DownloadThemAll! and AdBlock Plus. I've used Chrome sparingly and Safari not so much. I'll look into the new Safari - if it has the things that I have become used to and can offer me some speed on top of it, maybe i'll make the switch.

I've used safari the most consistently since ive owned a mac, so 6 completely won me over. I'll actually admit the main reason I love safari is the animation "gimmicks" The two swipe to slide back a web page, the new animation when downloading, the new animation for sharing, and especially now the pinch to tab.

Oh... and it is loads faster compared to safari 5. But that could just be an illusion with the new loading animation, another thing I like.

edit: one thing I love is that it seems they got rid of that spinning circle on the right side of the web address bar. I absolutely hated that. Certain websites would always have that thing spinning. Its similar to the spinning circle in iOS. So glad they got rid of it.

I've been using Safari for as long as I've been using Macs, but in the past few months I switched to Chrome only because I prefer being in presentation mode. I like a lot of things that Safari offers (like the page swipe animation) and if Safari had something just like presentation mode I would switch right back. Is that a silly reason? :D

The ability for Chrome to pre-load the page/website that you are typing in, and have that page appear instantly when you hit enter >>>>>>> anything any other browser has to offer.

Nope, Chrome is too well setup for me. I love the ability to have more than one Chrome profile open too, so I use my work Chrome and my personal Chrome side-by-side.

Would love that new tab view in Chrome though!

I used chrome and firefox when I was working in ubuntu.
But I liked Safari (yes, even safari 5) more.

And now Safari 6, I'm loving it :)

safari was great before and i loved it but now its really buggy and laggy. 3 crashes in one day and on the old safari i barely had 3 crashes in 2 years. the new hug tabs looks horrible and makes it more difficult to open a new tab. dragging a tab to open a new windows renders my computer useless lagging like crazy. and after 2 minutes the new window appears. if i open a new window to have 2 windows open at the the same time it also renders safari useless with huge lags in typing. i think i will be going to google chrome now.

....

I've always used Safari, but I hate with a passion the new search/url bar. Hoping there's some sort of hack to change it back soon.

Whats wrong with the "all-in-one" functionality ?

Personally, its better than the separate section for searching on the far right.

I always was constantly typing search queries into the address bar.....Now I can :)

It has on OS X, but on my windows machine I'm still using chrome. It didn't take much though, over the last year or so Google as a company has been loosing my trust, even if the browser is still pretty great (on windows). I really hate the giant gray blob of an almost uncustomizable menu/address/tab/tool bar in safari, but the scrolling and swiping and pinch tab switching and iCloud support are worth dealing with it's ugly. For real work on the web it's still firefox on Ubuntu.
