I've heard about a couple touch-screen issues and bends, but none of the others on the new iPad Pros (3rd gen)

All iPads are affected by these issues. Just google "ipad unresponsive screen", 'ipad white spot" etc. All current models, including minis, pros and normal iPads from every year (starting around 2017) have these flaws. If you don't believe me I can take my time and find you at least 20 threads on this forum about people constantly having these problems. Just let me know!

Did Apple fix those issues? No? I'm passing on.

I don’t plan to upgrade and if I did it would just be to get the bigger iPad. I at least want to test out that cook looking keyboard though.

2018 iPad Pro user here. When I first got the newly designed iPad Pro. I loved it. Sleek, fast and the display is simply amazing. I’m in no hurry to get the early 2020 model as my current iPad Pro is already fast for my type of use. However, if the rumours are true that Apple is releasing another model in late 2020, one with miniLEDs, I might just upgrade. Till then, I am going to continue the one I have now to the fullest.

It still has a lot of life left.

I’m upgrading my keyboard that’s for damn sure. That new magic keyboard is pure sex

I'm kind of surprised (or maybe I shouldn't be) that any 2018 owners would even consider upgrading. There's not even close to being a compelling reason to upgrade. I'm sitting out at least one more year.
Like to like upgrade, not much reason.

However, here are a few reasons it might be worth doing:
  • a family member needs an iPad or upgrade (you get the newer model, family gets your 2018 Pro)
  • need to upgrade storage
  • need to switch from Wi-Fi to cellular version
  • there are issues on your 2018 Pro

Happy with my 11” 2018

looks like the 2020 speed tests available are nothing spectacular vs what I have.

Better camera would be nice, but not for the cost of the upgrade!

I sold mine last week before the announcement. I figured I might as well get top dollar while I still can. I had no choice but to upgrade. It was a tough choice to wait until the announcement. iPad resale values always take a hit after the new models are released, even if they aren’t significant. If I change my mind I’ll just get the standard iPad as a place holder. I could always use an extra iPad.

I didn’t say I didn’t believe you. I said I didn’t hear of all these topics you listed.

The 2020 IPP RAM has "issues"?
Apparently early reports on a couple sites say it’s slower than the 3rd gen.

It’s not slower

It’s slightly faster. Basically no real difference. That’s not ram related anyway.

I bought my 11” Pro the 1st of February so I will not be upgrading as I got the TB version and works flawlessly and no issues whatsoever! The new iPad Pros don’t really have much to compel me to even consider it. I still love my 2018!

It’s crazy dumb, for sure.
So let me adjust what I said with my initial post, a little... I heard most of those issues but not in regard of the 2018 iPad. I’ve heard many, many complaints for the 3rd iPP, (just not all of these issues you mentioned.) I wasn’t suggesting they don’t exist.I’d just not heard those specific one.

Thank you for the links, (it’s good to see the 3rd iPP isn’t the only one with issues like so many have alluded to.)

I don't plan on it. I have a 11" 64gb and it's plenty for me. I may pick up the new keyboard but the price has me leaning towards not.
Let’s be honest here guys. The keyboard is the real upgrade here. Unless you like goofy looking cameras on your iPad that you’ll never use anyway, keep your 2018 and just get the new keyboard.

Have to admit. Wish I had these forum searching skills. I try to find a thread I remember from more than a few months ago and ... it's like losing a needle in a haystack for me.

It is pretty ecologically irresponsible to upgrade a perfectly working device every generation
We all have a role to play on this
How so? It’s probably not like they are rolling down the car window at 75mph and chunking the old one onto the Freeway? More likely, they’re selling it to someone else...who’s getting something they need at a lower price. Or, they’re giving it away to a family member, friend or to charity.
