Yes. Apple was supposed to predict that we would be wearing masks, engineer, execute and deploy a fairly difficult hardware solution…before masks were even mandated.

Ok
Funny but obviously not before the pandemic stated but few months after like April 2020

C'mon. Get real. Apple shut down on March 13, for what was assumed at the time to be a few weeks or a month at most. For the most part no one was wearing masks in the US until early summer 2020.

Let's not indulge in fairy tales about complex development tasks. As I understand it, having the watch unlock the phone was not a trivial exercise.

I agree because we're just about to stop wearing masks and will never wear masks again.
I don’t think we can say that for certain yet. I sure hope we’re close, but there are a lot of steps to go before we can just take off the masks.

When we will get RC? How was it in the last years? After release the last beta how many days need Apple to release RC or public release? Anyone know?

Actually it’s very poor from Apple because ability to unlock your phone while wearing a mask is a year too late
While we still have plenty of time until masks are not mandated, many people will continue to wear them. Also, this feature will be used by those who wear masks at work or even when wearing things like a scarf in the winter. Of course it would have been nice to have earlier but I’m sure it wasn’t easy to implement, especially when device security is involved.
