Looks like some people are finding bugs in the beta 8 thread . So I’m guessing a beta 9 before we will see an RC or public release

I'm still having some major CarPlay issues among other things. Another beta release this week would be Wonderful if my issues get resolved.

What major issues are you seeing?
Every single time I plug in my iPhone 12 Pro in my Car, some new unknown playlist starts playing either a Hall & Oates song or a Clark song, and each says Unknown and shows nothing in Up Next. I could be in the middle of playing another playlist or album, doesn't matter what, and as soon as I plug it in, BOOM. Private Eyes or some EDM comes on in the car. I've got a 2018 Chevy Impala and I'm using an Apple cable, not a 3rd party cable.

Not sure if you'll be able to play this video, but this is what I see on my iPhone. It's the video I uploaded to the Feedback I filed (FB9071622 and also FB9073028). But now when I go to redownload that same video, it just plays in a browser. So not sure how that'll look on someone else's end.. This was not an issue up until beta 7 and now still in beta 8. Between this and my Safari iCloud Tabs not listing as accurate across all my devices (Filed FB9079110 & FB9052808), I'm pretty bummed. BESIDES these things, though, everything has really been great for me. I can always restart an album or playlist where it messed up, and I can always rely on my Safari Reading List instead of my iCloud Tabs or even Handoff. But still...

The event being next tuesday all but guarantees the RC coming out then. It‘s clear that 14.5 introduces something new for the new devices and thus the full reveal is held back.
It's also likely that they skip the rc and release the final version instead.

No
This is very much the case. No Beta 9.

RC is mandatory for development, plus it will be the version going on the new iPads coming out the week after the event.
Do we know the week after the event or could it be that Friday (23rd)? Anyone know past history when there is an event for iPads or is it always the same as phones

Do you all think iOS 14.5 final will be released at least by April 30th? It is when my vacation starts & want to be able to unlock my phone with a mask?

It varies. Sometimes they are available the next day. Sometimes Friday of the same week. And sometimes the week after.

I think in the past it’s mattered what was being announced? Keeping any secret code regarding new devices out of people’s hands. I’d assume that’s why we still haven’t had an RC before next weeks event.

RC tomorrow is a possibility with final release on Tuesday.
I would think the rc might contain some code that they only wanna put out after the event so it’s most likely rc on event day and they will announce the release date at the event I think 22nd Thursday

A possibility but a minuscule one. It’s highly unlikely, due to the even being on Tuesday.
I think we're more likely to get a beta 9 release tomorrow as opposed to an RC. An RC will most likely be next week.
