Know that, but I’d rather get off the beta program once the final version is released.

You can remove your beta profile straight after installing the GM, which will put you on a public release track. However, I also like to flash my devices after running betas to ensure the best performance possible. So I would install the GM, wait for the public release and then install the iOS 14.0 afresh via “Restore”.

To much work lol, thankfully never experience any slow downs with iOS and apple hardware, my first time running iOS beta software, been very impressed so far with iOS 14 from beta 1 till now.

It is not so bad, actually, if you do a full encrypted backup via iTunes/Finder before and restore from it. This and iCloud combo make the whole process quite fast. Took me about 90 minutes in total to restore my iPhone after running iOS 13 beta. ?

So there is a good chance beta 7 will be the GM , cause if there is a beta 8 this week there won’t be 12 days until the event ...

Yea I think so, B7 is quite stable and not as buggy as some of the last beta builds of iOS 10-13.

Going with one more beta this week, then gm following week, then final release following week. Apple event on the 15th, product start shipping 2 weeks after the event.

Could be wrong though. ?‍♂️?

Since there's never been less than 12 days between last beta build and GM coming out, and since they have to load the GM build onto the new watches and iPads, then it's extremely unlikely to see a new beta with GM the week after.

It's either going to be no beta this week, GM after the event next week, iOS 14 public release on the 23rd/24th and new iPads & watches released on 25th, or beta this week, event announces GM for the following week (22nd/23rd), public release of iOS 14 being 30th and new iPads & watches on the 2nd Oct.

Happy to be proven wrong about the above, but don't think it's likely. I think it's the first of those 2 options, personally.

Anyone else thinking we're going to get a beta for 14.1 or 14.0.1 before 14 releases? I think so, that the new iPhones will get shipped with it, next month.....

Reckon it’s way to early for a GM release, leaning more towards the end of the month, even if they announce the apple watch series 6 today, doesn’t mean it’ll be available straight away, they could release it in 2-3 weeks when the software is ready, or push out a minor iOS 13.8 update just for the new watch features in the meantime.
I don’t think we’re Gonna see any further updates with iOS 13

That's bizarre. Seems out of left field that in 2020 we have Prosser, Gurman and now this guy. How has Apple not "sniped" these leakers yet?

Someone asked about that in the post and he attributed it to them being a large massive company. Which makes sense. All it takes is the right person at the right time to see or hear something.

So (again very large grain of salt here), if what the Reddit AMA guy says is true, new iPhones will come loaded with 14.1 and the iOS 14GM will be announced next week. Which means we could still see beta 8 today. Maybe tomorrow. Remember, they can always come out with iOS 14.0.1 or 14.1.1 if needed. They might have the new iPhones in the boxes and have some variant of iOS on them, but Apple IS always ahead in the release game. What they‘re loading on pallets could have the same version we get today.

I’m running b7 now and it’s great, but when the official release coming, is it recommended to leave beta program or does it close by itself? And should i wipe and restore or is that back in the old days?

I am planning on restoring from an iCloud backup when the GM is released. Make sure you have a local backup, too, as a backup to your backup :)

It’d be great to get a GM release today.

iOS 13 beta 8 was released on Aug 21 and then iOS 13 GM was released on Sept 10, or 20 days later. There was also a couple 13.1 betas mixed in there, and 13 was very “thirteen’ish”...

iOS 12 beta 10 was released on Aug 31 and then iOS 12 GM was released on Sept 12, or 2 weeks later.

Going back to iOS 11 beta 10, that was released on Sept 6, and then the GM was released only 6 days later..

I’d say there was precedent, but there just doesn’t seem to be. Could be 2 weeks, maybe almost 3, or maybe less than a week. So, seems to make sense to expect the unexpected this year. I’m standing by my thinking in that we’ll still get another beta this week, and then the GM next week with the official release the following week (or calendar week # 39). We could see new watches on the 25th, and then new iPhone on Oct 2. Most likely with iOS 14.1 on them...

If we want to update to the final release of iOS 14, does that mean we shouldn’t install the gm once it’s released, in case it ends up being the same build number as the final version.

Same build number means we can’t install the final release of iOS 14, correct?

So skip gm, delete profile and wait for final release?
That can be safer, but under no circumstances ever install a 14.1 beta. That 13.1 beta fiasco made it much more complicated to move my XS Max to my 11PM

I think there is a higher chance of getting a Beta 8 this week compared to the GM. I think we'll see GM on 9/15 (since it almost always launches on the product announcement day) and there's a very minimal chance we get a beta 8 today or tomorrow. Beta 7 was a "b" build and seems to be pretty stable. Apple could have fixed any last minute bugs into the GM that they're internally finalizing for release to the developers next week.

At this point we know some hardware is coming on 9/25. I'm starting to think we'll see the cheaper iPhones launch on this date and only the Pro models delayed until October/November.

Wow I just read through almost this whole thread. This guy has a ton of information, that's pretty crazy. I'll be curious to see if hes right.

Yea, given he has no real track record, and just appeared out of thin air, you certainly have to question the validity. Obviously this is a rumors site, so it's fair game to discuss.

At this point we know iPhones, ARM Macs, iPads and Apple Watches are coming soon. With the event date locked in, there is little mystery left, beyond what the hardware looks like or features it'll have.

Agreed, taking it with a grain of salt for sure but should be he be right, I think this might make him or her one of the most successful/correct leakers of all time?

Either way, interesting read!

'b' builds became the GM before, so it's not unheard of. I would be shocked to see another 14.0 beta, prior to GM, as just doesn't seem feasible if the watches and iPads are coming on the 25th.

I read through that thread. I am leaning towards 14 GM the day of the event, with the release to the public the following week (Wednesday or Thursday), with the new Watches & iPad on the Friday.

I can see a 14.1 beta 1 dropping anytime between now and 14's public release (last year has set a precedent).
