I just don't see Apple allowing pre-orders for products to go live midday without any prior notice. The point of the announcement is to drum up hype so that pre-orders and initial sales are high, which can't happen if it's a "surprise launch". Even if pre-orders went live at some point after the announcement ends tomorrow, there is a very low chance that pre-ordered devices would realistically be transported from China to consumers by Friday morning, making this Friday as a launch date also unrealistic. I think they'll stick to this coming Friday morning for pre-orders and normal launch the following Friday, which is consistent from recent years too.
Since the GM tends to just be the final beta, I guess they could release both the GM and public version this week since Beta 8 has been floating around for a little bit and doesn't seem to have any show stopper bugs. It just seems aggressive given how disastrous iOS 13's launch was. Until the new hardware launches, there isn't a real rush to need to push iOS 14 out to the public.

I'm assuming it's an option under noise control, I'm not running the beta myself, I'll install the GM when it's out though.
I guess this means they've rebranded "transparency mode" into "noise control"?
I think 'noise control' is more a menu, you tap it and then select noise cancelling, transparency, or off. The screen shot has 'noise control' and then says 'noise cancellation' under it.
You click where it says "noise cancellation" and the the three options with Transparency, Noise Cancellation and off menu comes up.
Listening the recently released Metallica's S&M2 concert video with this, this is actually very impressive. it looks like if the music was coming from everyhwere......and crowd cheering as well.......

This AirPods "trick" mentioned at appleinsider worked for me... or maybe they just updated on their own. Put in ears, put in case, attach to charger. Wait. Checked back in 15 -20 min, *poof*. Spatial audio.

While none have directly mentioned anything about being updated for iOS 14...I'm having app updates coming like crazy today! Not even "bug fixes and improvement" updates. I've seen some pretty decent ones so far! Between that and the AirPods update (which has yet to happen for me)...today is shaping up to be a good day, software wise!

I've had about 20-ish. I think maybe one or two of them was from Friday/Saturday.
Begins again? I don’t think it ever stopped. The App Library sorely needs options up to and including making it go away if that is what someone wants to do. There are currently zero options other than ignoring it which I find works best.
I don’t think we get a GM candidate this year. I think we will see the release iOS 14 by the end of the week. The fact that Apple is allowing app updates this early before tomorrow never happens.
Apple has always released a GM build for a major version in the past and I don't see this year being any different. It may very well be B8 without the 'a' at the end. Developers need the GM to test their apps with.
No, I don't think they could release it as a GM with the keyboard lag on the Messages app.

No lag for me. They'll release it (not because of me, but because I'm sure its ok for most as I've only seen sporadic complaints on that).
This clearly seems to be a very divisive feature for some reason. I'm with you. I don't use the list feature much but I don't let that get me down!
