Siri doesn't wake up when saying her name. One of the heavily advertised features of the new update is how you can wake Siri up by just saying "Siri" instead of just "Hey Siri." Unfortunately despite having the option on, it doesn't work at all. She still only wakes up when she hears "Hey Siri." Apple, how the hell do you screw up something as simple as that? It's just removing one word.

Mine works fine. Did you check settings to see if listen for setting is set to “Siri” vs “hey siri”?

It often, but not always, works for me. However, even when it does work, it seems to need a pause between me summoning the stupid thing and then telling it what to do. With "hey Siri", I can just roll with the rest of the sentence and it works fine.

When I get security codes through text on my iPhone, they automatically delete after use “cleaned up.” But they still show in messages on iPad. iPad also has the clean up setting on. i wonder if this is intended or a bug. All other messages sync instantly.

Yep, and still nothing

Email notifications appear only as "you have a new message" = no preview on lock screen.

Has worked flawlessly for me.

You do realize this is a beta right? This is the time Apple is trying to fine-tune announced new features and they may not work as expected while this is occurring.

My suggestion to you is to make sure that you have this set up properly (as suggested in the post immediately after yours) and if so, to file feedback.

SMS/MMS from folks in my Contacts started showing up with their phone number instead of name.
Odd.
Reboot fixed it.

For the shared but will not update Messages issue, just wanted to add that mine is set to start a message from my phone number but can also receive via AppleID and iCloud email. Not sure if it makes a difference.

If you are saying that you can delete an SMS from any of your devices, and it deletes across the board, then you are the first person that I’ve come across that this works for. It has never ever worked for me since day one. You, and anyone else this works for are very lucky.
My iPP and iPhone are on 16.6RC, Mac is on 13.4.1c and my test iPhone is on 17 B3. I was able to delete a text on my test phone and it synced to all my devices.

That is what frustrates me most.
Something that should work for all works for most or some but not for others and there is no apparent reason why.

Glad it works for you.
Now hoping it someday will work for me again.

That function has never worked for me on watchOS and it‘s set up properly everywhere.
Clarifying this, I have the same issue with watchOS and SMS. If deleted on watch, it does not on other devices. I THINK it does work with iMessages though.

Edit: just tested with iMessages, and it does NOT work either. Messages deleted on watch do not sync to other devices.

Definitely frustrating. I've done a lot of various troubleshooting for issues like this in the past, gone through lots of devices, some starting from new, some migrations. Signing out and in of iCloud, etc. It's a PITA and shouldn't be happening, but software has gotten so complicated that one behavior cannot always be reproduced on other devices, let alone other people.

Same...watch is on normal OS though. Don't know if that matters.

Question for my HomeKitters:

I’m not having any option for any kind of activity history within HomeKit. I have an August lock and a Meross garage door opener (set up directly through HomeKit), but neither offer any kind of history. I’ve seen others with the same devices who do have activity history available in HomeKit, however.

Is it possible that HomeKit requires either a hub on 17 or all users of the household to be on 17 for activity history? My phone and iPad are on 17, but all HomePods and Apple TVs are on 16, and the other member of the household has all their devices on 16.

For reference, I straight up have no options to even enable Activity History for those devices on my iPhone nor my iPad. Only activity notifications.

I've never seen activity history for HomeKit on any of my OSs. Something that has always bugged the crap out of me. Something so simple to provide and useful at the same time.

Same for automations.

I don’t know for definite, but I would go out on a limb and say this is specifically only for the 17 wave of software. In other words, everything would need to be on iOS, iPadOS, audio iOS, TVOS 17 et cetera. Just my guess, but it does work for me and I am updated on everything.

Well, looks like it may be an iOS 17 beta issue. Apparently, I just didn't know how to turn it on previously.

Should be here, but it's not: Home app > home settings > safety & security > activity history

I still wish there was just raw searchable logging like there is in Home Assistant and Homebridge.

I had this issue for a while. What worked for me was signing out of iCloud on all devices that get messages. Rebooted twice. Deleted all their messages except on my phone. Rebooted. Wait. Then sign into my phone first. Wait. Rebooted. Then do the same for all other devices.

usually, I have good luck with betas, but this one has been rough.

ran into apps only coming up as blank screens a couple days ago, even Settings and finally had to "hard reset" (sequence of the volume keys, then side button) to regain function after the reboot. then today tried to answer a call from the pop-up and it simply wouldn't. hmm.

iPhone 11 Pro

This is what I’m thinking. It seems like everyone that has Activity History has, at least at the minimum, their main HomeKit hub on 17 as well.

Not really a big deal at the end of the day, but still. Hoping that’s just the reason and there’s not something else effectively blocking me from using it.

Interesting. So, you manually deleted messages on your watch?

Just tried “Siri turn on the fan” in one go and it worked fine for me. No delays. Personal fav is ability to issue multiple commands without invoking Siri or Hey Siri each time. Felt stupid having to say Hey Siri each time and been a PITA when having to skip multiple tracks.
