No. Voice control is not a hardware feature. There are so many ways you're wrong.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but while it's technically possible to have some sort of voice control on the 2G/3G, the implementation that Apple chose for the 3GS uses DSP hardware that does not exist on the older phones. It's impossible to just "turn it on" and have it work on them.

I have seen the question come up on the comments but no answer yet. What is the status of the wifi fix. Is it in 3.1? Is the radio firmware update listed the fix for wifi connectivity issues?

Where is the carrier profile located in settings so i can remove it??

Yep, im having the same issue. Have you figured out where to delete the carrier profile or return it to default? In settings>general>profiles, I only see my dev profiles.

My internet connection is not working at all. Phone/text of course works fine.

I am curious about wifi too. My wifi got messed up with the 3.0 update also I had never used it, but Bluetooth seems to not be working on 3.0 for me.

Have any of you devs heard or seen evidence that Apple is considering a "Location Profiles" option? I've suggested this via Apple's feedback, but I've never read any discussion about it, anywhere. What I mean is I'd like the ability to define my network preferences for 2 or 3 locations so I can easily switch. For instance, "Home" for me would be WiFi on, 3G off. "Out" would be WiFi off, 3G on. I'd like the ability to do this easily instead of navigating through the Settings screens.

Would be great. especially if it used gps to figure out which profile.

Just checked settings on my 3g iPhone running 3.0, I had Bluetooth turned off. But my wifi isn't working like it did on 2.2.1.

I don't remember ever being able to cancel a text message as it's sending. Can anyone else confirm this being in an early 3.0 beta?
I loved this feature, as sometimes I would hit send by accident as i was typing a message, you could cancel and continue editing, Brian Tong on the apple byte, even mentioned this on cnet tv as one of the features they needed to put back so im hoping it makes its way back..

not to mention it could adjust sound profile, change ringtone and maybe sound level like if you were at work putting the phone on silent automatically, sounds like an app I should work on writing ;)

So, would anyone suggest me installing 3.1 on my 3GS that I use on a daily basis? How many betas are there typically before it gets released?

Also, how long should it be before this is released?

For a .1 release, there are usually several betas. Probably at least a month or two. This .1 release seems more stable than most in the past. Of course, it doesn't add enough that I'd recommend updating unless you're a dev who needs to test compatibility and the simulator won't get you by for now.

Recording 720p has nothing to do with the display size. The 3Gs hardware can handle 720p, but Apple for unknown reasons has it disabled and set lower.

Most likely to save recording space. It appears that the phone is limited to 2GB videos and 720p has twice the number of pixels as 480p.

Then why add the hardware in for it ... ? With a 32GB iPhone, you can record a lot of 720p video. Keep in mind, with a Bluray at 50GB you can have 1080p for about 3 hours worth. (maybe more)

So at 720p, 32GB would be plenty of space to record a few hours worth of video. Chances are, most users wouldn't record more then a few minutes worth of video at a time.

The way I read it I thought you were asking for playback.

No problem :D
