Yup - I am at the same screen.

Nice of iTunes to have eliminated the download status bar. Took some courage to do that...
Mine has moved on to "updating the software" and appears to be trying, the iPhone restarted and has the status indicator on it.

Am i actually installing ios 10 now? Or some other garbage?

The popup windows that would have come up when telling iTunes to install/update would have told you what the update was.

If you are using iTunes 12.5.1 then it should be iOS10 any version lower it will likely be installing the latest iOS9 release.

I didnt format it. However, if it is bricked, there is NOTHING you can do about it. Not plugging it in to restore. No DFU. Nothing. Therefore, the phone is not bricked.

Wow... THANK you for that lesson in semantics. Thank God we have people like you to come in here and correct word usage when people area already stressed that their iDevice is no longer working. You are doing the Lord's work.

Same here. Hope to have this resolved shortly, and courageously.
Question is whether it will go back to a default OS or upgrade the old one. I have a nightly backup so no big deal but for those who don't I can see this being a real problem if that's the case.

Downloaded the latest iTunes and plugged the iPhone in and it prompted me to update the iPhone and I said yes, now just sitting on this screen and waiting with no other indicators. View attachment 651135

Once the iOS IPSW starts downloading the progress moves to the upper right corner of iTunes. You should see a spinning/arrow icon.

I couldn't see that icon (might be totally blind) on my version of iTunes (OS X).

I'm going to try iOS 10 once more...if it breaks again, I'll just stay on iOS 9 until Apple courageously fixes it in a new release.

Update: My "connect to iTunes" attempt has completed and it updated without losing any existing information so that's good.

Same here. Installing iTunes 12.5.1 now.

So, 30 minutes for the 1.1Gb OTA. DFU, now 60 minutes for the 2.31Gb iTunes.

Great! Me, too. I had the older version of iTunes, so the iPhone recovered to iOS 9. I then installed new iTunes and am currently courageously updating to iOS 10 via iTunes. More to follow in a few...

Damn... I am so mad! I have bricked my iPhone6S plus to DFU mode. I thought I''l update before I go to work, to check new features when on break... now I have not working brick for a phone that I need for work! Thanks Apple You ****ed UP BIG TIME!!!!!! Now I am late and cant use phone at all.

I dont have a computer to install this peace of **** software (iTunes, I never use it!) that has huge background services and slows a computer down even if not using itunes... (and erases your phone if you reinstall windows)

Still mad they got rid of that 3,5mm port for iphone7, that they called bravery to do... :(

When you plug into your computer, does iTunes recognize the iPhone? Leave it plugged in for a couple of minutes in case the battery ran down.
Yes. But it keeps saying that there is a problem with the iphone, it needs update or reset. Everytime.

This is not "bricked". Plug your phone into a computer with iTunes installed. "Bricked" means that the phone will not power on/function, and is essentially only useful as a "brick".
