Mine has moved on to "updating the software" and appears to be trying, the iPhone restarted and has the status indicator on it.Yup - I am at the same screen.
Nice of iTunes to have eliminated the download status bar. Took some courage to do that...

The popup windows that would have come up when telling iTunes to install/update would have told you what the update was.
If you are using iTunes 12.5.1 then it should be iOS10 any version lower it will likely be installing the latest iOS9 release.
Same here. Hope to have this resolved shortly, and courageously.Mine has moved on to "updating the software" and appears to be trying, the iPhone restarted and has the status indicator on it.
I didnt format it. However, if it is bricked, there is NOTHING you can do about it. Not plugging it in to restore. No DFU. Nothing. Therefore, the phone is not bricked.
Question is whether it will go back to a default OS or upgrade the old one. I have a nightly backup so no big deal but for those who don't I can see this being a real problem if that's the case.Same here. Hope to have this resolved shortly, and courageously.
Downloaded the latest iTunes and plugged the iPhone in and it prompted me to update the iPhone and I said yes, now just sitting on this screen and waiting with no other indicators.View attachment 651135

I couldn't see that icon (might be totally blind) on my version of iTunes (OS X).Once the iOS IPSW starts downloading the progress moves to the upper right corner of iTunes. You should see a spinning/arrow icon.
I'm going to try iOS 10 once more...if it breaks again, I'll just stay on iOS 9 until Apple courageously fixes it in a new release.Question is whether it will go back to a default OS or upgrade the old one. Doy I found it. Wasn't courageous enough to look up there the first time, I guess. Thanks!Top right corner, circle with down arrow.
Update: My "connect to iTunes" attempt has completed and it updated without losing any existing information so that's good.I couldn't see that icon (might be totally blind) on my version of iTunes (OS X).

When you plug into your computer, does iTunes recognize the iPhone? Leave it plugged in for a couple of minutes in case the battery ran down. How do i know if my iphone is bricked? I think mine is bricked..
Great! Me, too. I had the older version of iTunes, so the iPhone recovered to iOS 9. I then installed new iTunes and am currently courageously updating to iOS 10 via iTunes. More to follow in a few...Update: My "connect to iTunes" attempt has completed and it updated without losing any existing information so that's good.
Yes. But it keeps saying that there is a problem with the iphone, it needs update or reset. Everytime. When you plug into your computer, does iTunes recognize the iPhone? Leave it plugged in for a couple of minutes in case the battery ran down.
This is not "bricked". Plug your phone into a computer with iTunes installed. "Bricked" means that the phone will not power on/function, and is essentially only useful as a "brick".My phone is bricked. I got the charger > Itunes logo. How can i unbrick it? Just got this iphone 6s plus. My dad is going to be so mad if my phone is broken.
