Ok, I can barely type here.
I bought a SSD about 20 minutes ago at the Cherry Creek Mall location in Denver.
I went in there right as they opened this morning and still got the sort of stonewall "we don't have any" that everyone has talked about.
I then was late for my 10am meeting and went back as soon as it was over at about 11:30am local time.
I went in and talked to a kind of newbie seeming sales guy. He said, "yes, we have some" and I asked if they had any SSD models. He radio'd to the back. (Holy cow is this really happening) and got the guy to look. A few very long minutes later he got back to him and said they had one in the back to which I said, "I'll take it."
I haven't even unboxed it yet. I have a lot of work to do today before leaving town. Crap! At least I got one.
Good luck out there folks. It is possible today.
I will try and post my receipt here to relieve any doubt. I just wiped out my info on it.
Time to change my signature!
Got my SSD at the main SF store 45 minutes ago.

Hope you're successful - the OH just called to say he's got his 1.6 from there (in the event they did get both 1.6 and 1.8) and that the personal shopping experience was great because it helped him realise that actually, for his needs it's perfectly fine. So that's Apple helping him to spend less with them
Sweet, I picked up a 1.8/SSD at the store at Tysons Corner (VA).
I'm re-installing OS X right now.
And of course I cancelled my pre-order first.
Woohoo!!!!
I called them, they were VERY suspicious. I asked if they "had any airs in stock" She said oh yah, lots, we just got them in. I asked them if they had any 1.8/80's she said let me check. Came back on the phone said they had none. I said someone just got one, she said, oh, uh, we had ONE I guess he was the lucky one. Do you think they're lying or just confused?
I got the same story. No stock at the moment. Oh well. I wish they had some but I cant wait around every morning for a shipment. Hve to work unfortunantely.I spent some time at Charlotte's SouthPark Mall store and they had five on display. No madness, but quite a bit of interest. Got a nice demo from one of the fellows there and did my own "cold boot" test on an HDD and an SSD and it was pretty consistent. 29 seconds on the SSD, 45-48 seconds on the HDD. I bought a Super drive because, according to FedEx, they tried to deliver my 1.6/80 preorder this morning and I WASN'T THERE! AAHHHHH! Oh, well. I'll get it tomorrow.
Got the story that a few trickle in nearly every day, but that savvy people are waiting on them in the morning and they're gone by lunch.
Nice shopping experience, thinking of selling off my MBP and going to an iMac for home to complement my new MBA.
