I have read several posts where even though the Apple stores still have waiting lists, they are not necessarily reserving each laptop that comes in for a person on the list (likely depends store management). It sounds as though when a store gets some stock they call every phone number on their list and don't leave messages if no one answers. If someone picks up they have to claim the laptop immediately. And if no one answers and is coming in that day to claim all the laptops the store will sell you one (again likely depends on the person you get at the store or management, sweet talking may help or purchasing additional items like printers/software).blacknblu said:I called the local Apple store, and they informed me that they are still working on wait lists that are about 12 deep for each model.
Of course if you are changing the hard drive or doing the proc bump to 2.16 then you still need to wait for a CTO from the web. Reminder that mem upgrades can be done in store at pickup.
