Gutted beyond words.

Prices are the exact same in the UK store as before and that 'update' is, without question an insult to anyone spending such massive amounts of money.

Hate the thought of going back to windows, but I don't really have any other option.

Sorry folks :-(

If Apple was DONE with the Mac Pro's why would they update them? I agree, its a lame update, hardly what I'd call an update at all, but if they were no longer interested in the Mac Pro line, don't you think it would make sense to say we are discontinuing them? I am holding out hope that there will be a major Mac Pro update, the 'Next Gen' Mac Pro, sometime this year.

That is not the way Apple does things. Please remember Xserve.

Also, there'll always be some Apple-blinded cult fanatics willing to shell out 4000 $ for 3 year old hardware. . It's an easy way of getting rid of those 5770 models that are still gathering dust in their warehouses :p

What's updated? Only lower price.

I suppose now if these are the final builds to start looking at a custom build with OSX.

Prices have gone down a lot in the UK store. The single CPU 6 core 3.33 is now over £600 cheaper. I am not sure what you're looking at.

Radeon 5770 graphics.
5x USB 2.0!

This new Mac Pro should provide way more power than anyone is going to need
...to develop their iOS Apps. I mean... what else are you supposed to use a Mac Pro for?

So quit whining.

Just one good new thing from this mess for us, kepler cards is coming to macpro. Not officialy :p

Ready to Flash 6,1 firmware on My 4,1.

Over the Air. Mountain Lion recovery support!!! LoL

when did intel release the Xeons that are in the "New" mac Pro?

Last February they dropped the prices on the 3.2GHz quad, 3.33GHz 6-core and 2.4GHz 6-core. They also bumped the 2.93GHz 6-core processors to 3.06GHz. So Apple have basically bumped to processor pricing from February 2011.

But there are already 650K iOS apps. Who needs new ones?

I should have specified, the 'entry level' quad core.

The entry level quad core has gone down in price. It used to be a 2.4 GHz CPU for the same money. Now they're selling the 3.2 (which was an upgrade for £400 or £300 if I remember correctly), for the same price as the 2.4 used to sell for.

----------

The 12-Core as well was released in 2010?

Two 3.06GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon

No, the 3.06 was released in the 1st quarter of 2011, as per my post.

The Mac Pro "Team" Should Hang Their Heads in SHAME

This is, by far, the most pathetic showing from :apple: to date.

Hackint0sh, here I come.

I'd like to find the Mac Pro "team" and beat them upside he head with that 5770 card.:mad::mad:

We all have to admit this screenshot is kinda funny.

How sad this is.

When I looked at the new Macbook Pro video, I couldn't help but think of the Mac Pro when Jony and Bob said these lines at the start of the video:

"To create something that's genuinely new, you have to start again. And I think with great intent, you disconnect from the past."

—Jony Ive

<irony>"If you never change anything, then what you can really engineer is really incremental..."</irony>

—Bob Mansfield

It made my stomach sink. But this is the Apple philosophy, and it applies to the ol' Mac Pro line.

Buyers Guide shouldn't even post is as an update, since the computer probably is 100% identical, even part number...
