I'll have to wait and see how it turns out. I've never been a fan of plus model phones, the X is really the perfect size for me so most likely I'd either keep my X or get whatever replaces it.

I’m happy to buy last year’s iPhone 8 and make a saving rather than buy a new iPhone 6.1” inferior on features. Apples direction is truly puzzling of late. They are really cutting out a core part of their consumers downgrading mainstream offerings and putting prices up. I’ve gone from getting the latest and greatest to really questioning where my money is actually going.
I feel very much the same way - and that’s why I wouldn’t be surprised to see them take the 8 series away so you have the choice of the 2 gen old 7 or the 6.1 LCD at the end of this year - there’s precedent from when they offered the iPad 2 alongside the iPad Air rather than offering the 3 or 4 (though I believe sales collapsed so badly they ended up having to re start production of the 4 halfway through that cycle)

I thought it was obviously a joke, although i suppose some people could actually believe it going by past experiences....

It's happened to me too. One member even reported my post once.

$1300 for a disposable item is insane, though. If I was a girl I'd buy it because they have purses to put them in.

I’m in the same position. Apple’s current upgrade strategy definitely differs from the Apple of yesteryear. Some aspects are positive but generally I’m not liking these 2018 rumors one bit.

I’m no longer in the market for flagship Apple products. I personally will opt to remain a year or two behind on releases. I want to remain in the eco system but these current prices are just flat out ignorant.

My 8+ won’t get upgraded till 2019.

$1300 is a lot, but if it lasts you 3 years and you use it for 3-6 hours a day, that is a LOT of enjoyment for a little over $1 a day... Anyone on here probably uses their phones 4h a day or more. That’s 4,380 hours of use over 3 years, which is about 33 cents per day. We spend $3 or more on an energy drink or cup of coffee, not to mention people who smoke or drink.

I feel like a bit of a sucker for paying that much, but I can’t think of anything more important to my life than my car, bed or phone. I won’t cheap out on any of those.

Now that I read my post again I want to clarify I said a girl because they can put their phone in their purses/bags whereas we have to put it in our pockets. I can barely stand my keys in my pants, let alone a 6.5 " brick but I like big screens.

Before we talk about price we better talk about size, My opinion is that making the iPhone X+ too big will push away
some customers, it can't be bigger then the 8+.

Well then they’ll just go for the smaller X.

Maximum size will be determined by pocket size I suppose.

Well, you could've meant the statistically less rational purchasing behavior of women.

That's why they call them "Phablets".

Portrait people texting/reading/browsing choose the X. Landscape people gaming/video watching choose the Plus.

It's a pretty simple strategy, no different than Single people choosing a Coupe and Parents choosing an SUV.

I think the X Plus will start at $100 more than the 256GB X. So $1250 and $1400 for both phones.

The only alternative is the 2nd gen X starting $100 less this year and if that's the case the X Plus would be $1150 and $1300 respectively.

The problem is that most new “features” are irrelevant. Aside from unlocking the phone with your face, there is nothing you can do with an X that you can’t do with a 6S. The only real reason to upgrade phones nowadays are camera improvements (which are noticeable)

I quite agree. My contract is up in September so i’ll see what offers are available. For me it’s just about making sure my iPhone isn’t too slow and whether the battery lasts. I’ve really enjoyed the 6S and seeing as the iPhone 8 is a faster version with a few updated key features, I think it would be a worthy upgrade anyway. The 6.1” sounds like a budget version of the X lacking features I’d be used to but perhaps at a higher price than the iPhone 8. Seeing as the 8 is in effect an iPhone X with the older appearance, I think it’ll be a good buy this year.

I intend to buy an X Plus if it truly does release this year. I currently have a 7 Plus - ever since they released the 6 Plus and I tried it, I loved it. Love the increased screen real estate and the increased physical size doesn't matter to me, which people always funny because I'm a tiny guy (5'3"). My brother got an iPhone X, as did my best friend, and they both love it. FaceID is smooth; the best thing for me is less bezels. Wireless charging would also be cool, not 100% necessary but a nice addition. Figure I'd sell my excellent condition 7 Plus for like $500, that's like 2/3 (at least) of the cost (don't do contracts anymore).

I Agree. And if you look at Apple‘s marketing where its invested, it’s primarily all about Face ID and camera upgrades for the iPhone X and 8. And the camera upgrade is probably the most single feature that consumers want to take advantage of because pictures are truly something that we take almost every day. Apple emphasizes the camera through their marketing more than any other feature. When the dual camera released for the iPhone 7 Plus, Apples marketing was primarily all about that specific feature for the iPhone.

I held onto my iPhone 6 for three years and saw no need to upgrade to the 6S, the 7, or the 8. It took a lot more than just a camera bump to get me to upgrade eventually to the X.

Significantly Better Battery Life
Face ID
Edge To Edge Design
Vertically Enlarged Display
Wireless Charging
Gestures (No Home Button)
Bluetooth Headphones (No Jack)
Sharper Camera

That’s what did it for me, in that order. There is a lot more going on with the iPhone X than a camera. That’s the crap Apple used to pull with the “S”.

Same, my 8+ - I'm going to keep for 2-3 years and I'm pretty solid about this. Kept my 6+ for almost 2 years and my 6s+ almost 2 years. Hoping I can do 2-3 with the 8+. Paying $1300 for a phone is going to be difficult.

Honestly for me the size of my new X is perfect. Anything bigger will not be viable in my pocket and for daily use holding a phablet size phone.

Not to mention the price. I feel at $1000 I should have got at least a fast wireless charger. Beautiful phone and quality no doubt but more of a $850-$900 price would have been the right price. $1000 on a phone is for the epeen.

Regards to the iPhone 6 compared to the 6S, it was actually the little changes that refined it nicely Apple made with 2 GB RAM, 3D Touch, A9 Processor, Improved construction with the 7000 Series aluminum, and of course the camera. I personally was always a fan of the “S” series. In a sense, that’s really what the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 was, just without the ‘S’ moniker attached to the iPhone 8.
