I'd like to remind everyone that these photo are making the iPads look warmer than they are in real life. The give away is when everything in the background is warm (aka orange) including white tables.

If you want to take a more accurate photo, set auto exposure on a white sheet of paper, so that the white sheet of paper sets the white balance. Then we, at home, get a better sense of how off the iPad truly.

(Not that it matters. If it looks bad to you, return it asap)

When I enable the reference mode, the colors look very accurate. I set up my iPad using my old 12.9, copying all my settings. Wonder if that is the problem. I erased all the data and resetted the new iPad but it did not solve it. Turning off True Tone makes it better too.
I double checked and I realised I had True Tone in my MacBook Pro off. The oled iPad actually matches the MacBook Pro very well, both with True Tone on and off. The one that is different is my 12.9 miniled iPad which is cooler than both my MacBook Pro and oled iPad

Got my 13” yesterday and I also notice that screen is warmer than my other Apple devices. I noticed that switching True Tone off reduced warmth considerably, so hard to say if this is just True Tone calibration matter or something with the panel. I also plan to take my iPad to store and compare to other 13” models on display. If there is difference then I’ll probably exchange mine.

I was at a phone store today, and when I was waiting to be called on, I noticed they had the M4 13" on display. I turned off True Tone, and opened some images on a website to compare side-by-side with my iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I knew from prior comparisons (with my current iPad Pro M1 11 and my calibrated MBP, which both match) that the iPhone was a bit warmer / more yellow, and I was surprised that when put in that context, the M4 iPad's color seemed at least in the ballpark of what I would expect it to be (a little cooler and slightly more magenta than my iPhone). Grey tones did not have the warm tint that has been described by some.

Granted, an indirect comparison method like this is far from ideal (plus it was in the bright light of a store), but it's somewhat encouraging.

I hope it’s just a bad batch of screens or some calibration issue because I really liked the M4 13” and plan on picking up a new one in a couple of weeks/months time to see if it‘s any better.

I have returned three of the 13” models, all three had tinted yellow screens. At my last visit I walked around the store and looked at the demo models, all but three of the demos had a yellow tint. Apple is aware of the issue. I suspect we will see some sort of update soon from Apple to adjust white balance.

I got a 13" Pro today. I was concerned about the color issues but side by side with my 2021 12.9, there is really no discernable difference between the two. True tone off, no color corrections applied to either device, same brightness levels. I provisioned the new iPad from the old, over the air, not from a backup.

I'd say it's from the heat and friction of the two panels rubbing and banging against each other.

2 brand new OLED’s. One is definitely defective and more yellow. Glad I had two of them to compare side-by-side Will be returning the yellow one to the Apple Store

My iPP 11 looks muuuuch more like the white one vs the yellow one. It’s a keeper.

But all this pixel peeping had me hold muh iPhone Mini 13 next to the OLED and I have just realized how yellow the Mini screen is. And there’s nothing I can do about it. 😅

Same problem to me, even with the replaced one. Recording to my information, the 13-inches are having more yellowish screen than the 11-inches. If I use the iPad Pro M4 individually, the screen is usable. But along with mini-LED MacBook Pro, it's unacceptable.

I have the same problem. My new 13" M4 OLED (512GB) has significantly warmer whites than my old 11" M1 LCD. But compared to my iPhone 12, it's not that bad. The iPhone is much more yellow, I never noticed that before. But it seems that after turning off True Tone on the 13" M4, the image is acceptable - it's even cooler than the 11" with True Tone ON. And it's comparable to my 32" DELL LCD. I'm not completely happy with it, I expected a perfect tablet for the price. However, it looks like the problem is solved and I don't have to return the iPad.

I'm thinking color tone is something Apple could adjust through software update. Although Apple's goal is probably to calibrate these displays as close to each other as possible within the ecosystem, it surprised me how greenish/purple tinted the old M1 iPad picture looks in comparison to new M4 - I guess each generation had its quirks:

So the yellow shift, makes the white and other colors more closely aligned and makes for me a legibility issue on text. I am going to drop in on the Apple Store and just see what the Current display units are looking like, however I may end up returning this unit and being shuffled back ot the 2018 iPad...... I made the mistake of handing over the m1 to the wife already.... with an external display....... that tablets not coming back I get my rejects rejects 2018 back.... sigh.... this cost me my beloved tablet and it was a let down /s/.

Return it for another one. The 13" Pro I got yesterday doesn't show this issue - I compared it side by side with my 12.9. Not all units have the problem.

When I return it, I am done, I will just wait it out for a few months. Then again I may never buy one again it was a splurge, and I now have a bitter taste, I have all this setup work to undo / re-do, and being as my day job is IT, that is like working free extra hours for nada. That is kinda why I buy in to apple, I set it and forget it and the experince is almost always top notch. This iPad has not been that, the screen has been fininky the main driver for my whole upgrade water fall, so when I go back, I am gone. That will not harm apple, and I will end up with a new iPhone this year.... just means one less iPad sold I suppose, and off to the refurb market place for a truly sad m2 LCD 11..... when they show back up..... La grand sigh..... this is why we can not have nice things I suppose.

If I were you I would take it to the Apple Store and exchange it for a new one. Keep the first one available while setting up the new one enough to evaluate the screen. If it looks good transfer the data from the first one you have already set up to the new one (it doesn't take that long) and take it home and enjoy. If you get home and change your mind you can still return the second one within the 2 week return for no reason period.

This is exactly what I see. Side by side the M2 is a hazy diffuse blue and the legibility of the M4 is head and shoulders better. There more I use the M4 the more impressed I am with it.

Is your MacBook Pro True Tone turned off? I thought my iPad 11 is much warmer initially until I realised my iPad has True Tone turned on and MacBook Pro True Tone off. If I match the True Tone setting, my iPad 12 Oled has very similar color to my m1 16” MacBook Pro. My m1 12.9 iPad is the odd one out with cooler colors

I am 99% sure it’s a setting issue. I doubt apple has such poor qc as the colors are waaaay off. Also the colors look right is u enable reference mode

Just dropped by the store with my m1 12.9 to compare with the store 11 oled iPad. It is normal I think for the 11 oled to look different.

They are all off. I mean my 11-inch LCD iPad Pro looks same as my MacBook Pro, but the 13-inch NEW one performs more yellowish then the other two.

This has been a regular occurrence for iPhones, there are always outliers escaping production. It's likely relatively rare cases, but people come to the forums with such cases.

Every OLED display I’ve had has been inconsistent with the red/green balance. iPhones, Apple Watches, whatever. I don’t think it’s an Apple-specific thing; you can find complaints about other manufacturers/devices too. But the people who are going to notice it are the people who will go post about it on a forum. My mom isn’t comparing the temp of her screen to other screens.
