The Slingbox app for iPhone which has been in beta testing for while is said to be waiting on approval from Apple. Perhaps AT&T isn't quite ready to stream that much data across its networks?

Where did you see that the sling app was in Beta? and that all they are waiting on is Apple approval? This is false becuase I talk with the head Beta Manager from sling and they are not even done with the app.

And for the second part, AT&T already streams that much data across its network, because people with windows mobile phones already use the sling app.

well the blackberry app is official and will be in beta on the 30th. If it is true that they were developing that before getting to work on the iPhone, a start date is at least in sight!

Where is this info that the sling app For Blackberry will be in beta on the 30th? not that I dont belive you, I just want to read it for myself.:D

Sling Media has put a stake in the ground and intends to meet their goal of delivering a Blackberry SlingPlayer this year. On December 30th, the company will release a free public beta to Slingbox owners - supporting most modern GSM Blackberry models, such as the Curve and Bold. Meaning Verizon and Sprint customers are currently out of luck “until RIM resolves a platform issue.” Once official next year, I assume the software will run for a one-time $30 fee, like the Windows Mobile, Palm, and Symbian clients.

I’ve been playing with development builds for about a year, and the Blackberry SlingPlayer features the most efficient mobile interface Sling has produced and it’s also the first mobile client to support Sling Accounts. Meaning, customers don’t have to mess with tracking a Slingbox Finder ID - the number is associated with an email address, which most folks hopefully have no trouble remembering.

Of course, the inevitable commentary will ask about Slingbox iPhone software… According to Sling, “It is still in development but progressing nicely, there will probably be some public news next month given CES & MacWorld.” Stay tuned!

I would hope that sling is making this a priority of sorts. Because they could have me as a customer once they have a iphone app.

I think now that the BBerry app is out this is their priority. Obviously I don't have any insider information, but I think it's a safe assumption.

While I would love an iPhone app from SlingMedia, I cannot blame them one bit for placing the focus on the Blackberry app right now. There is a MUCH bigger customer base in the RIM devices. I have an original Slingbox and will likely upgrade to one of the HD boxes at some point in the near future.

good news...but i was hoping that this was going to be announced at macworld as 'available immediately'...

still much better than nothing.

See like I have told everyone from the start, If we could just wait a little while Sling would have the app ready for us. and here it comes.

I cant wait., :D

Sling makes some wonderful products, but it's here that Apple is missing the boat. You already have a huge library of Vids bought and otherwise in your itunes library. They need to add streaming to the Phone and Touch a priority in Itunes.

Perhaps you have lots of video in iTunes, I do not. Access to live TV and all the stuff on my DVR is much more valuable to me.
