*random guy who seems to be so anti-Mac he bothered to come up to me in Coffee Bean*

the guy: What's so good about Macs? I mean, they're not even low profile. Why would I want a big Apple logo in front of me when I'm typing?
me: *I just shake my head*

The guy leaves. He finds a table, and takes out his laptop. It's one of those grey ones. One of those grey Dell Latitude models, I think. And, you know those stickers you get whenever you buy something from Apple? It's right there, covering the Dell logo, right where it would be on a MacBook. So in essence, a dark grey "MacBook" with plastic casing, and Windows in it...

I'm slowly working my way through this thread. But a few things jogged my memory of something my brother encountered once.

He was walking by an Apple store, and someone walking behind him said this:
"Look maw, theres an ipawd store."

You would be surprised how many people I have heard call it the "iPod shop" and actually say "Look, they have computers as well!"

How about this one -

Guy says : "I hate Apple computers, in fact I hate everything Apple makes"

Me : "But you have an iPod Touch"

Guy : "Well thats different isn't it?"

Obviously

A friend said to me after looking at my Mac Pro and 30" Dell monitor:

"How much did that cost?" .... I told him, he replied "Feck me, for that money you could have bought a good PC" .......... **** !!

I haven't heard anything too bad. I used to be an aerospace engineering major, and you could always tell which nerds were going to impulsively tell you "Macs suck!" without any provocation. I'm in biomedical engineering now, and Macs tend to be more acceptable for some reason. I also have girls in my major, now, but that's off-topic.

It wasn't so much a question but a comment. One pc guys tells an apple guy .My gateway laptop could kick your imac's ass.Speaking of imac's mine just came in.If this imac has an ass im sending it back.

Where's the start menu, where's the task bar, why isn't ctrl-alt-delete working, why can't i right click, what's up with the menu bar, so on... and so on... and so on... where is internet explorer? Goooosh people! Windows, and Mac OS X are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Not one thing about them is the same. Not one line of code is the same.

How come I can't find any anti-virus programs, won't I get a bunch of viruses?

*sigh*

On a Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kxDxLAjkO8) one of the comments reads "Anyone notice they upgraded to Leopard half way though" and some moron replied "No they didn't dumbass, the Dock is a Leopard feature and its in the whole video"
.... wow... the ignorance of some people makes me want to slam my head into a wall, giving myself a massive headache/migraine.

And also... I like that video... heheheeheh

If I can find that comment, I am going to reply back.

eGad I know! A while ago... (I can't remember where... church or school I think) I was drawing a bunch of Apple logos 'eating' circles like Pacman, and someone asked me, "what are you drawing" (well duh.... Apple symbols) and I replied, "Pacman!".... and someone else said, "Oh... I thought your were drawing an iPod symbol"

Where is the Stupid Answers Apple Fanboys Give thread??

I love my MBP, but when I first got it, some of the answers I got on this board were enough to make anybody shake their head.

I am an experienced user with a background in all kinds of OSs. So my questions were generally task centric, not OS centric.

So I'd ask "how do you do abc on a mac"
Occasionally my answer received would be "why would you want to do abc". Ridiculous.

One example (for which I still have not received an answer) was how to watch an mpg in a separate window from my browser after clicking a link.

One guy actually suggested I download it and then view it, as opposed to streaming it. What, is it 2002 here??

Also, how do you watch an mpg full screen. (as opposed to a pixel by pixel rendering, which on a hi res 17" mbp gives you an image the size of a postage stamp) Ironically, wmv files play great. just <cmd>F and you get full screen.

So lets have it. I'm interested in hearing about the dumbest answer from a fanboy any of you have received.

It's true there are some people here who wouldn't admit a Mac had a problem even if it was on fire.

Guy: Is that Mac on fire?
Fanboi: Yes, it is.
Guy: Are you going to put it out?
Fanboi: No, it works better this way.
Guy: But my PC isn't on fire.
Fanboi: Yeah well, things work differently on a Mac. Fire only enhances it's superiority!

I exaggerate of course, but my point is, there are people like that, but most of us are more down to earth.

A little handy tip around around here: "Newbies" are guilty until proven innocent. Just some thought food. :p

.

i hear you, its pretty funny the answers people give.

to answer your question, cant you just right click (or :apple: click) and then go open in a new window?? seems simple enough to me...;)

I think they did upgrade to leopard half way through because the menu bar is Aqua at the start and then it's the leopard one at the end

Still, it's an awesome video

Yeah, they did upgrade half-way through, what a fast instillation! :D

Yup, thats a great video!

I think he was getting at the dumb comment that said the dock is a feature of Leopard. As the dock is a feature of any flavor of OSX.

But moving a disk to trash for ejectiong it is basically as intuitive as having to press the start button to shut down windows.

You know that there are an absurd number of other ways to eject a disk if it really bothers you that much. Contextual menus, finder windows, find one that makes you less OCD.

Or use the eject button on every Apple keyboard... Now theirs a thought!

do you always talk to them with no enunciation punctuation or even taking a breath so that it becomes difficult to understand what you are talking about even though they wouldn't know in the first place?:D JUST KIDDING! But seriously, that was hard to read.:)

Most of the windows users I know think the definition of "boot" is "a covering of leather, rubber, or the like, for the foot and all or part of the leg."
