Does this makes sense? I’m wanting to trade an iPhone XR.

As long as the iPhone XR is still in good working order, there would be a maximum value of the device is $196.00.
Which would come off the $415 offer on the iPhone XR, making it $219 that would be credited over the length of your EIP. For 24 months, this would be $9.13 off a month on the EIP.

For the iPhone 12 64GB *for example, the down payment for well qualified customers would be $0 and then $27.67 each month for 30 months. *this is not specific pricing / EIP terms for your account, as we would not have those details until Pre-Order day, this Friday.

However, if well-qualified, this would be $27.67 - minus that $9.13 a month = $18.54 a month.

Some of the posts here are confusing. It sounds like maybe some of y’all (@Chilorin17 and @joselc23) are still paying off the XR, and if so still have a balance due on the XR. And it sounds like T-mo is willing to pay off that balance using these new bill credits, as long as you exchange the XR for the new 12.

To keep it all straight and figure out how your bill will change, do three separate calculations. They have different time periods associated with them so also keep an eye out for what the first payments might be and when they would change. (If you were told some things will last for 24 months and others will last for 30, the amount will change at month 25.)

1) the remaining payments you are responsible for on the XR (make this a negative number- if the payment you owe is $8/mo write down -$8),
2) the new payments on a new 12 (another negative number, -$27.67), and
3) any trade in CREDITS you would get (the only positive number, $415 over 30 months is $13.83).

Add all 3 numbers. This is the easiest way to see this clearly and make sure the rep is doing the math right.

To answer my own question, a T-Mo rep just confirmed to me that the 12 models will be $30 more than the Verizon/AT&T pricing. Pretty scummy of Apple to list those as the base prices when they’re promotional prices.

That's correct. If you go to the apple site you can also verify that as well. I agree with you. Scummy indeed

I think the total trade in value of the iPhone X is $415. Sounds like they told you they will give you $193 right away. That leaves $222 to be paid out over 30 months.

This is how I believe it worked with my previous trade-ins. I remember having issues with my billing credit so I contacted them, and they ended up giving me the rest of the value instead of waiting 24 months.

I'm definitely pre-ordering 2 iPhone 12 Pro Friday. $415 trade-in for my XR + $200 gift card for the T-Mobile Loyalty promotion. And also upgrading my sister's 6S... which would be $215 trade-in + $200 gift card for the Loyalty promotion also. Not bad at all.

Ugh I think my 5 year anniversary is Jan 2021. Think they will give a two month grace period to get access to the extra $200 per phone? Looking to upgrade two phones perhaps.

From someone with a similar question on the T-Mobile Reddit page, that's a hard no. It was even escalated to the Executive Team. I think you're going to be out of luck.

I currently have an 8 Plus that I bought out-right from Apple and will purchase the 12 Pro Max out-right.

Apple will give me $210 trade-in on my current phone.

I haven’t been with T-Mobile for 5 years.

I’m willing to sign a contract for my line. There are three lines on our family plan.

Acknowledging that there is limited information right now, but based on others’ experience, is there any predicted incentive for me to buy from T-Mobile rather than Apple? Has T-Mobile historically given a better trade-in value?

In my personal opinion no. T-Mobile gives better BO-GO deals or buy one get a bill credit, but to wait months to get the credit is in my opinion not something I would do because I upgrade every year.

This year I am buying directly from Apple.

Apple is 5am PDT for pre-orders. Anyone know what time T-Mo starts?

Same time.

So, I think I’ll be buying direct from Apple this time and paying in full. I’m just not cool with the silly games TMO is playing lately. My XS lease ends 10/31 so the timing is perfect. I’ll just give the phone back to them and take the hit this year.

One other dumb question. We're past the days of Apple releasing different phones for different carriers, right? For example, the T-Mobile version (after unlocking) will be 100% compatible with ATT & Verizon?

Same here - I am still "paying" the EIP thru T Mobile from last year on the 11 for my son's.
Luckily, he is not interested in the 12 (WHEW).

This year, I am upgrading my 11 which I paid off and using the Apple Card to get a 12 Pro.
I'll pay off the 12 in a year since I don't really like the 24 months interest free extended payments.

But at least I will get 3% Apple Cash on the phone!

I called T-Mobile.

For a iPhone 12 Pro 256GB Pacific Blue, is $1099.99

$0 down (Well Qualified)

$45.99 monthly

That is a high monthly payment. I feel like I should just pay it off.
If that’s the case I assume the 128 GB $1099.00 pro max should also be $0 down correct?
