Seriously! I bought one last year. Absolutely the best machine I've ever owned. I'm using it now. Silent. Beautiful. Cool. Way @#$% faster than a machine of this price/class should be. I have yet to find anything about it that I don't love. If I wasn't already married, I'd run off and elope with this beauty. 😆
Now now, you said vows, remember? I think it’s for the best you send me the computer so you aren’t tempted.

It’s for your own good 😌

When Ive presented a product of HIS.

MacBook 12”, 10 years after the last 12” available (PowerBook), but it took 3 years to be fixed and the engineers proved incapable.
Apple Watch Edition ceramic, a product strongly wanted by Ive (it is obvious, only a competent designer can industrialize niche processing) killed by the company's inability to manage its economic appetites.
The steel band for Apple Watch, $400 but it's another project by Ive, so much is well done.
There are several examples, but I realized that the only real reason I was fond of the company, in addition to the satisfaction for hardware and software that now literally suck, was the attention to design, certified by the presence of Ive.
Fired Ive, Apple no longer has anything to say, and you see it in every product.
In addition, they are too busy profiting at the expense of quality, so they will not recover until they have fired all the current CDA, which they will not do until the gullible continue to fill their wallets.
Ohhhh yes: iOS 7 was pretty exciting, a lot to do with Ive presenting it. I know a lot of people hated it, but I really liked its implementation of a design concept. The iOS versions and iterations afterwards diluted the original, but there was something really special about iOS 7 on the 5s (and to a lesser extent the 5c).

I agree.

iOS 7 in those years looked like iOS under lsd, but over time I learned to appreciate its refinement (I have a 5s with iOS 8 as a backup).
The very fine font, the primary colors, the flat appearance, is all a fineness. Then they made it worse, as always Apple.
I hope Ive can return to proposing products for the masses and not just for the niches, he is a good designer massacred by the commercial logic of a company looking for an author.

Last month with the Apple Watch Ultra (even though I won't be upgrading yet as my Series 6 is only two years old and $800 is a lot when I already spent so much this year.)

Otherwise the only thing that gets me excited anymore are Apple Silicon Macs. They're the only thing I like anymore

I haven't been excited for an apple product since I got my 4K Apple TV (I know something that isn't that exciting), but for me it was. But now, its the AW Ultra (since my Series 5 is on it's way out) and a 16 inch MacBook Pro to replace my 2015 iMac. I do not want the studio or the 24 inch iMac. I prefer work on a laptop, I do not travel and its always on my desk but I am way more efficient working on a laptop.

An obvious one, but Apple Silicon. I was quite sad when Apple moved from PPC to Intel architecture in 2006, it felt like the Mac was losing its identity. But as a professional I had to move with the times and go Intel. 15 years later I was really happy to hear about the M1, and bought an M1 Pro to replace my 6th gen i7 Macbook Pro. This MBP is better in every way - performance, battery life, keyboard, function keys, and connectivity. Although I'm still not sold on the notch, I don't see why they couldn't have just moved the screen down half an inch into the dead space at the bottom to fit the camera at the top. I only wish they had added USB-A, but that would have been one U-turn too many for Apple.

Well, I was quite excited about the launch of the Mac Studio and the MacBook Pro M1 Pro and Max.

Maybe the Apple Watch Ultra also surprised me.

But what I remember with high expectations... the iPhone X.

I think we are all quite disappointed this year, the performance of the M2 disappointed me seeing the great results of the M1.

This year they have disappointed us with the price adjustment due to inflation, having raised prices up to 500 euros compared to last year (or 6 months ago), with no improvements or small upgrades.

This year the iPhone 14s, dynamic island aside, really don't bring much more than the usual, better cameras and little else.

I think for me, this has been the worst year for Apple even though I bought the Mac Studio, the Studio Display, to replace my 2013 iMac, the Apple Watch Ultra, to replace my Series 4 and an iPhone 13 Pro Max (because my iPhone 12 Pro Max was stolen during a work trip).

When was the last time you were really excited about an Apple product and what was it? Seems more and more folks are buying to replace older items, not because they are truly excited about the new product. Sort of like a lot of "ho'hum, I need a new one" thinking rather than "oh hell yeah!"

I get a little excited whenever one of my actual needs would be best met by a new or updated product. Like when I realized I would be really well served by a MacBook with 2TB storage to stop lugging around external SSD’s, and where the M1 processor was a strong enough leap from my 2014 MBA i7 to be worth the jump. I was excited to see that the M1 seemed to take care of the MacBook Air thermal issues in the prior gen’s. Or when I moved in with my fiance and realized I could really use a comfy wireless earbud that lets me move around on the pillow without it falling out (AirPods).

It’s been forever since I was really, really excited about an Apple product that I didn’t really “need” but mostly just wanted. I think i was last really excited with the introduction of the iPad, which was new and for which I didn’t yet have a need because the product didn’t exist until then.

Nothing like a genuine need being filled by shiny new tech toys 😁

honestly not anything from the past 5 years. I think the last item I was really excited about was my MacBook Pro from 2014, which was my computer I used throughout college. This was my first ever Mac computer, and opening it up and seeing a high res screen and how polished the UI of OS X Mavericks was made it a magical experience.

Before that was probably my first gen iPad mini—and even before that my iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4th gen.

I think nowadays everything is just spoiled by leaks. We see the new products before they’re even announced on stage.

I was pretty excited when I got my iPad 9 this year for my 45th birthday. I was also very excited for my iPhone 13.
I too was pretty excited to get an iPad 9 this year. I knew it would be the last of the classic iPad design and the tech it included is able to do everything I was doing with my iPad Pros before for only $329 ticked off so many boxes.

Yeah! I love watches and wear a garmin golf watch daily due to the pedometer function, but I have just not been over the moon wild about the Apple Watch.

Never had a need needing solved, never was just thrilled about the Apple Watch in general.

I’m convinced some of the lack of excitement is based on Apple’s upgrading things so often annually. I don’t like the feeling of $spending $$$ for something I don’t truly have a need for and which will be outdated in 11 months, and I was more susceptible to splurging back when I felt like I’d be on the Apple cutting edge for at least 2-3 years. For instance, I am hoping to read/hear that the Apple Pencil hover that’s being broadcast as for the M2 ipad only is a software thing that will come to the M1 ipad, as I would really like that option. If it has to do with the screen, it sure seems apple isn’t touting that much.

However I just bought a series 8 thinking I should be mindful of the health monitoring functions as I get older, and just got over a 1st bout with Covid. So, a non-glamorous, non-thrilling need will be addressed, just with a lack of true excitement.

Oh, and I was excited for my 12.9” 2020 iPad. Somehow my fiancé & I have moved to watching more TV on that than the larger LCD in the living room, so stepping up from a 9.5” Air 3 was pretty damn nice and exciting. And I started taking music lessons again during covid, so a larger screen meant I didn’t have to keep a binder of paper music scores. A real need(s) solved by something shiny and new, I was kinda excited about it. But not over the moon giddy like with the 1st iPad.

The most recent ones?

1) MacBook Pro 14" with M1 Max. Finally again a pro laptop that does everything a pro needs.
2) The iPhone X was finally a mature smart phone. 11,12,13,14 are improvements but no wow factor.
3) 4K Apple TV. The go to OTT device.
4) AirPods Max. Great stuff.
5) iCloud. The syncing is great. But please allow me to upgrade beyond 2TB.

I think that the M2 MacBook Air is a nice machine, but given the price I'd go for a M1 MacBook Air if I were in the market. The 24" iMac is cool. I'd love to see a new iMac 27" or 30", it is an omission in the line up. Looking forward to the new Mac Pro.

Totally not impressed by:
iPads, Studio Display, Mac Studio, Apple Watch, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade.
